Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is "The Cherry Bomb". A 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe Coupe. The car is updated with a 3.9 Litre V6 engine & transmission, steering column & rear end out of a 1987 Dodge Dakota that had 60,000 miles on it. It has power steering & power brakes. The car handles very nice even at 75MPH. It does not shimmy or pull. The power brakes stop the car very well. It carries good oil pressure & always runs cool. The radiator is out of the '87 Dakota as well. The body is very solid. The rockers were replaced with new ones. The floor pans had steel welded in where needed.(very little). There is no visible surface rust & no rotted spots. The trunk floor is solid & in excellent shape. (see pics). The chrome is nice & shiney with a near perfect grill. It had been repainted 10 years ago, so the paint is faded, but still cool looking. Excellent patina. It could be buffed to shine, but I like it the way it is. It has some minor scuffs, but no dents & very few dings. Glass is good. Side door windows are heavy plexiglass with the balance of the windows as the original glass. The windshield has very slight fogging around the bottom edge, but does not cause visibility problems at all. The interior has seat covers over the original seats. It looks nice inside.(see pics). The car has the optional visor & spotlight. The speedometer works, lights, blinkers, taillights, brake lights & hazard lights all work. The car has radial tires that are rather new. The car really handles good on the road. Things that are not functioning at this time are the gas guage, wipers, heater & fan.(I think this just needs to be hooked up). Other than these items you can get in and cruise right away. I've been driving this daily and it is very dependable. Everywhere I take it I get lots of compliments on this "Cherry Bomb". It is a real eye catcher coming down the road. The reserve is low and very affordable. It takes a lot of time & effort to install an engine, tranny, steering column, rear end & etc. that has been done to this old car. If you have any questions or wish to discuss this car, please email me early and I will be happy to anwer any questions you may have. I am confident the new owner will love this old cruiser. It is fun to drive. Bid with confidence.
