Vehicle Detail

This car is a very nice “triple-white” that just needs a little more TLC to have a very nice “looker”. I am selling because I need to refocus my attention to other family matters but will be looking for a later model next year.IMPORTANT NOTICE! 1. This car is being offered on Ebay for Northamerican bidders/buyers. 2. Ebay members with feedback ratings less than 5 must contact me via email prior to bidding. 3. It is your responsibility to read the entire listing, and if any questions about any aspects of the terms of this listing contact me via email – DON’T ASSUME ANYTHING! This car is offered with no warranty either expressed or implied, and as such is strictly offered “as-is”. Now for the details:This car was bought by my brother from a local owner 5 years ago and was barely running at the time. It was taken to a trim shop for a new top and seat recovering. Then it was taken to a VW repair shop where, after some work, it sat for 4 years. This local shop pulled the gas tank out to clean it, put new brakes at all 4 corners, and some work under the hood to attempt to resolve CIS injection issues. It then sat for the remainder of time. Since the car has hardly run much in the last 4 or so years, I strongly recommend the new buyer plan on using a tow dolly or trailer to get the car to your final destination. I also recommend planning on replacing belts including the timing belt. I probably have a new timing belt which I would be happy to send along with the car at no additional charge. I also have a significant stock of Cabriolet parts if interested to go along with the car as I have parted-out 3 of these in the last couple of years. Most of the side trim pieces are inside of the car but not re-installed (you can see them missing in the pictures). You may need new clips to securing attach these again which I am pretty certain are available on Ebay as I have bought them here before.New items also include a 2-1/4” Techtonics exhaust system with a new OEM (flanged) catalytic converter. The warm-up regulator is a rebuilt model purchased here on Ebay. I have a new external fuel pump that I will be installing prior to end of the auction and the in-tank pump is new as well. The tires are new Michelins that maybe have 10 miles on them (were on a previous VW that I also sold here on Ebay!). I have rebuilt the CIS Fuel Distributor with new o-rings per instructions I found online at “CabbyInfo.com”. I have changed the oil with a new filter and the fuel filter is new as well. The paint is in good condition, with no rust spots and only a few scratches here and there. It should “polish-up” real well but would look really good with a fresh coat of paint if you choose to do that. There should only need to be a minimal amount of sanding and smoothing to achieve a fine surface condition. This car is no where close to perfect but, with a little tweaking under the hood, it should be a fine running car. When I have driven it, the engine was firing well on all 4 cylinders and pulled very strong. It has an after-market cruise control which is partially disconnected and laid aside as can be seen in the under-hood picture as the controller was right over the master cylinder reservoir which I had to refill to get the brakes up to par.Again, don't hesitate to email me with questions. I am willing to help the buyer load this and, for a limited distance, would be willing to tow it as I do have a tow dolly if you don't have the means to do so. Contact me first to negotiate this. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! On Sep-12-11 at 15:01:27 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE FOR SEPT. 12, 2011: Okay, now for today's update . . . when all else fails, check to see if it needs some gas in the tank . . . duh! Yep, after I installed the new (external) fuel pump, and it still wouldn't start, I realized that the 2 gallons I put in a dry tank, and system, might have all been consumed in all the work/troubleshooting I've been doing. It started right up with some fresh gas!!! It does have a slight miss I need to check out but I ran out of time this evening. Oh well . . . at least the new buyer gets a new fuel pump in the deal (not taking it back off). I also forgot to mention the new Advance Auto Parts battery that I just put in it too. For those who have asked about my location in Greenville, SC, I'm at 108 Central Court. My cell is 864-380-3098 to arrange for a time to look at the car. I am going to be out of town some this week so please call in advance to arrange a time.
