Vehicle Detail

1970 Chevelle convertible. This looks to be a SS clone that never got finished. The car is/was code 28 Fathom Blue with a Black top and bench seat interior. The car now has a 1974 CXU coded 454 out of a passenger car, a turbo 400 automatic transmission and a RVC coded 12-bolt posi rear axle along with boxed lower control arms and rear sway bar. It is also equipped with power steering and power disc brakes but a manual top. The car comes with a set of GM A-body bucket seats and what looks like a console out of a 70-72 Monte Carlo. The tach, speedometer and fuel gauges all work. This vehicle does run and drive although it does neither well. I purchased the car in non-running condition and have since got it running. I changed the plugs and oil, adjusted the valves, set the timing and did a compression test. All cylinders are between 125-150 PSI. The engine will idle, but pops under hard acceleration. I'm not sure what the cause is. The transmission seems to shift fine and the posi still works. The body will need some work. Again a project left for dead. Someone has "cut in" the car in the original Fathom Blue but this car was a long way from paint if you know what I'm saying. The fenders are both in great shape with no rust at the bottoms. The left is an reproduction but the right side looks to be a GM part but I cant tell for sure. The Cowl induction hood is also a repop. The doors are both have very nice bottom edges as the pictures will show. The right quarter has had a half panel installed and looks like a poor job, or at least a poor choice of a aftermarket piece. The left panel has also been replaced but with what looks like a used GM part. It was replaced at all the factory seams. It does have some rust behind the wheel where it meets the trunk drop-off. The decklid has been filled with bondo and is junk. The car will need a trunk floor, drop-offs and probably inner and outer wheelhouses depending on how nice you want it when you done. The floors will need replaced as well. The top frame is in good shape and goes up and down without much fuss. The frame of the car looks decent for being a northern car. I don't have a lift but did jack it up and tried to get some decent shots. It looks to get a little scaley towards the back of the car but I didn't see any holes or soft spots. Here is a link to a few more under carriage pictures. http://s670.photobucket.com/albums/vv64/BLACKNBLUE/1970%20CONVERTIBLE/ In closing, what we have here is a very desirable year and model of Chevelle that has had a lot of SS items already added. It is in need of a full restoration in my opinion but that will be up to the new owner to decide. I'm going to list this car with NO RESERVE because I'm not real sure what it's worth in this condition. If you have any detailed questions or need more pictures please give me a call. (260) 623-3345. I encourage any body that is interested to inspect the car in person or send someone to look it over for you. I can help with shipping but all cost will be paid for by the winning bidder. The deposit is NON-REFUNABLE but is very reasonable. Thanks to all and good luck !!!On Sep-07-11 at 10:44:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note that I DO NOT have the front and rear inside door/quarter trim panels for the car. The convertible exclusive rear seat is in tact but no quarter trim or arm rests. What you see is what came with the car so bid accordingly. Also the buckets seat are not bolted down. They came with the car but need the correct brackets welded to the floor to be mounted securely. Thank you.On Sep-12-11 at 12:14:02 PDT, seller added the following information: My apologies to anyone trying to call me over the last couple of days. I discovered that my phone was out of service Saturday morning and is still out as of 3:00 PM Monday afternoon. I don't own a cell so if you have any questions please email me via Ebay with your phone number and I will call you as soon as possible. If you try the number listed (260)623-3345 and it rings and rings with no answer then it is still out of service. I hope they have the problem rectified soon. Thanks
