THIS AUCTION IS FOR A 55 STUDEBAKER SPEEDSTER. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR EARLIER THIS YEAR, IT HAD NOT RUN IN SEVERAL YEARS. I DRAINED THE COOLING SYSTEM AND REPLACED THE COOLANT.. I CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER. THE ORIGINAL CARB HAD BEEN REPLACE WITH A NEW EDELBROCK FOUR BARREL. TO BE SAFE, I REMOVED THE CARB AND INSTALLED A KIT. I REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS, POINTS, CONDENSER AND ROTOR. I REMOVED THE GAS TANK AND FOUND IT VERY CLEAN. EVIDENTLY THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD DRAINED IT PRIOR TO STORING THE CAR. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAD BEEN UPGRADED TO 12 VOLTS. I AM ASSUMING THAT A UNIVERSAL WIRING KIT WAS USED BECAUSE THERE IS A FUSE BLOCK LOCATED UNDER THE DASH AND ALL OF THE WIRING THAT I HAVE SEEN IS THE MODERN VINYL COVERED WIRE. THE MOTOR SEEMS TO BE GOOD. THE CAR WAS REPAINTED IN THE ORIGINAL COLORS, AS FAR AS I CAN TELL. THE BODY IS VERY STRAIGHT. THERE IS NO HINT OF BODY DAMAGE REPAIR AND NO HINT OF RUST NOR RUST REPAIR. I DO NOT BELIEVE THERE HAS EVER BEEN ANY RUST IN ANY PART OF THE CAR. THE MOTOR SEEMS TO BE GOOD. THERE ARE NO KNOCKS NOR OTHER NOISES. THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION BOTH LEAK AND WILL NEED SEALS. IT APPEARS TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR AND SOMEONE MAINTAINED THE LEATHER AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. THE RH LOWER DOOR PANEL NEEDS A LITTLE REPAIR. THE HEADLINER IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THE CARPET IS SOILED. THE ODOMETER SHOWS 72,000 PLUS A FEW MILES. I CANNOT SAY THAT IT IS THE ORIGINAL MILEAGE, BUT IT IS POSSIBLE, CONSIDERING THE OVERALL CONDITION. THE DOOR AND TRUNK RUBBER HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE FRONT BUMPER AND GUARDS WERE RECHROMED. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR IS VERY DIRTY. TO MAKE IT NICE, YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED TO HAVE IT STEAM CLEANED, OR NOT. THE TEXAS STATE INSPECTION STICKER IS FOR THE YEAR 1995, SO IT PROBABLY HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE THEN. IF YOU ARE CONFUSED BY THE VIN NUMBER, I WILL EXPLAIN. PRIOR TO 1956 IN TEXAS THE VIN WAS THE MOTOR NUMBER.
