Vehicle Detail

This is a great car that was originally assembled around 2004 in Long Island NY. I was able to find the original builder and get the story. It was built for a kid that lived near him. The young lad and the builder had a falling out which led to the builder taking the car back. The car was than sold to a man in South Dakota. From there no one seems to know what happened but it ended up in the Portland Oregon area. It changed hands a couple times in the Portland area and I purchased it in September of 2010. Since The speedometer has never worked there is no way to know how many miles are on the car or drive train. However, it is a pleasure car and has not been driven that much. Before we go any further I want to make it clear that this car has been inspected and has a proper Oregon DMV issued VIN number and a proper free and clear Oregon Title. The cars overall length is approximately 13 feet 7 inches. It looks longer in the pictures than it really is. The obvious question… Why am I selling the car. I have completed the project and found that I enjoyed the process more than the finished product. It really is as simple as that… I am ready for something different. When I purchased the car there was a lot of things that needed to be corrected. The list is long and I have lots of receipts but I have fixed everything I set out to with the exception of 2 things. The speedometer does not work… it needs a cable built that I never bothered to do and the fuel gauge does not work. The fuel take is a round cylinder “dune buggy style” 10 gallon (I think it is 10 gallon) tank with no sending unit. The follow has been done since I have had the car New Rear Tires Brakes Rebuilt New Headlights Blinker System Installed Horn and Button Installed High / Low Beam System upgraded New Rear Axel Seals New Fuel Pump New Tie Rod Ends New Wilwood Hydraulic Clutch Slave Cylinder LOTs and LOTs of new front end parts King Pins Sling Shot Spindle Arms Flaming River Corvair Reverse Steering Gear Box New Corvair pitman Arm New Water Temp Gauge New Voltage Gauge New Oil Pressure Gauge and ON and ON Car information: THE MOTOR: Was professionally built for a friend of the original builder it was in his Cobra Kit car for a while but he decided to go with a stroker motor and a different transmission . That motor is now the heart of this Rat. THE REAR END AND TRANSMISSION: The transmission is a t5 manual transmission. The rear end is a banjo style rear SoCal believes the rear-end is a mid to late 30’s banjo rear-end. I have no idea what the gear ratio is. THE RUNNING GEAR : the running gear is very solid, engine runs very good and is strong. The transmission and rear-end seem solid with no issues that I have found. BRAKES: SoCal Speed Shop went through brakes and said they were a “40’s Ford” style drum brake system all the way around. They went through the brakes and made sure they were functioning properly. The changed some wheel cylinders and brake lines as well as replaced the front wheel bearings. The brake system is a dual master cylinder system with one master cylinder for the front and one for the rear. They are manual brakes but the car is very light so the brakes work well on this car. THE WHEELS AND TIRES: They wheels are 16” 40’s Ford wheels… the real deal. These are not reproductions meant to look real. The tires are Firestone pie crust style tires. Front tires are 6.5” x 16” approx 28 ½” tall and the Rear tires are 7.50” x 16” approx 31” Tall. The front tires were new just before I purchased the car and the rear tires I purchased September 7th 2010. This car draws a crowd everywhere. It shows very well. In March of 2011 it was in the Portland Roadster show and won best of class. This is a very large show and there was lots of competition. The last 4 pictures show the car after we set it up for the 4 day show. FINAL NOTE: Thank you for your time and consideration I look forward to hearing from you.
