Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1955 2nd series short wheel base step side 3100 1/2 ton pickup. The truck has been restored back as close as possible to original condition. This is one solid great running truck with the original 55 235 engine with "foot stomp" starter and 3 speed manual on the column transmission. I restored this truck with the intentions of using it every day. All parts are what would have came with the truck if you would have purchased it in 1955. The only parts that would not be a original part is the radiator with over flow tank and the pretronix electronic ignition. The pretronix just takes the place of the points in the distribitor cap, you can go back to using points in about 10 minutes. But I like the pretronix better then the points. The brakes have all been replaced including brake lines, master cylinder, and wheel cylinders. I have put a new exhaust system on the truck and the shocks have been replaced. The starter, generator fuel pump (and fuel lines), carburator, voltage regulator, ballast resistor, coil, plug wires, plugs, rotor button and cap have been replaced. The oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, and rear main seal have been replaced. There is also a new gas tank behind the seat As far as the interior goes, the head liner has been replaced and all the guages work and I have not installed a radio yet. The sunvisor pad has also been replaced as has the floor mat. The trucks seat is in very good condition. My wife drives the truck to work so she put the seat cover on the seat cause it is hot here in the south and the vinyl seat gets hot on the butt and legs. The heater works great and I converted the windshield wipers from vaccum to 12 volt by using a original wiper motor out of a 57 3100 pick up. The windshield is brand new as are the vent glass. The door and back window glass are original to the truck and all the rubber seals have been replaced including the hood to cowl seal and also the hood and door rubber bumpers. As can be seen in the pictures all the trucks emblems are present. The horn does work and works by pressing the original horn button in the center of the original steering wheel. the truck will come with a original assembly manual and shop manual and some extra parts I have for the truck. The truck is painted a single stage butternut yellow color. The paint job is not perfect and does have some blemishes and there are a few small dings. The blemishes and dings are hardly noticeable but I feel they need to be mentioned. I also have about 1/2 gallon with the hardner/reducer of the butternut yellow paint. I used a piece of 3/4" plywood in the bed of the truck and painted it and the side panels with bed liner paint. I did not go the oak plank route because I wanted a truck bed that I could haul stuff in, not a show truck bed. The cab corners have been replaced by welding in new patch panels (not riveted). I used very little body filler on the truck, mostly to fill in spots after grinding a weld. The trucks frame has been cleaned and coated with POR15 rust resistant paint as has the cab floor and bottom of the cab and firewall. The inner fenders have also been treated with POR15. The inside of the fenders have been treated with POR15 then under coated. The truck also has blinkers and new tail lights and parking lights installed. The seat belts are not seen in the pictures but have been installed. As I stated in the beginning of the description. I restored the truck to use everyday not to keep in the garage to just drive to shows on the weekend. This is a dependable truck that I would not be afraid to drive any where as long as I wasn't in a rush top speed on "Old yeller" is about 55mph. There is a link below of 2 videos of a walk around of the truck and also showing it running and a video of the truck being driven. Here in Alabama for a vehicle that is older then 1976. You are only required a bill of sale to register the vehicle. I have had some folks asking if there is a anti theft system installed on the truck, there is not. But I did install a kill switch in the cab. If you flip the switch off the truck will turn over but will not start up when the key is turned to the on position and pushing in the foot starter. For obvious reasons I will not put where the switch is located in the cab. The truck is also listed locally for sale so I reserve the right to end auction if the truck sells locally unless there is a bid on the truck. In which case the auction will run full course and high bidder will get the truck. If you have any question give me a call, my cell is 256-689-6401. If you want more pictures just send me a email. The truck is located in Alabama about a hour east of Birmingham off of I 20 Here is a video of a walk around of the truck and of it running just click the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVaa4T4DFnI video of truck being driven http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgOK-3UTfS4&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
