Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1957 Ford Skyliner Retractable. Here is some information, good and bad, about the car. This was originally a Red and white car with a red/white interior. (See a picture of the trim tag and the jams). It had some body work done a while back. The work is a little amaturish, but the body looks solid on the outside. It looks like it was painted black for sanding purposes, and not for a color change, since most (if not all) the jams are still red or white. The black might have been just a guide coat. The outside rockers look good, but the inside rockers will need some repairs. Also some repairs will be needed on some of the body mounts. (atleast two body mounts). Also some althought the outside back of the quarters look good, the inside will need repairs. The Skyliner comes with a complete new interior. New seats covers that are already installed, new door panels and new rear panels. New Headliner that still needs to be installed, new carpet, new windlacing, lots of extra materil that would be needed to finish off the interior. There's about $1800 worth of new interior. The trunk also will need some repaires. The top does not go up and down. Some fo the wires are disconnected and some of the limit switches look like they need attention. I think all the motors are there, and there might be some spare motors in one of the parts boxes. There is some rust in the corners of the package tray. The floors have been repaired, but again an amature job. There is a patch welded on the frame on the drivers side. The car did have the front and rear bumpers replated. The front bumper has never been installed, and the wrapper was taken off to take pictures of it. The rear bumper was redone, and installed. Also, the front grill has been replated. So the car comes with some nice chrome. I also have some new emblems with the car. It looks like all of the exterior trim is there and maybe some extra trim pieces. The engine is either a 272 or a 312 with a 2 barrel carb. According to the vin it should be 312. The engine does run and the car does move. The brakes work. It looks like the front end may have been redone since the rubber bushings are not crackd. Exhaust isn't bad either. But I would not consider this a road worthy car. This is a project car with lots of great new parts. There is about $3500 in interior and new chrome alone! If you are redoing a Skyliner this car would be a great asset in helping you finish your car. Use it then sell what you don't. Or if you are looking for a project and love these cars, this is a great project to finish. This is a NO RESERVE Auction with a LOW starting bid. Internation bidders are welcome. It is the buyer's financial responsibility to pickup and transport the car. $200 is do at the end of the auction. Balance is due in 3 days. Wire transfers, cash or checks are prefered. There will be an extra fee if Paypal is used to pay for the balance. If you have any questions, please call 215-620-8744
