Vehicle Detail
After firing this bike up tonight, i almost didnt put it for auction... the crisp, sharp bark of a Grand Prix two stroke is truly a sound unto itself. and to think there used to be entire grids of these things lined up in anger. but its time to let this one go. to find a home where it can run. I bought this bike about five years ago and called it my "diploma bike". If you dont mind, i'll explain.... see, some people spend alot of time and money and effort and go to a fancy law school or something. when they get out- they have a gilded diploma to hang on their wall to show off that accomplishment. well, i didnt go to no posh school, and i'm sure as hell no lawyer. but i did race gp 2 strokes for the better part of a decade. and man, the money i spent wouldve easily paid for law school and the bodily injury i suffered dwarfs any 20 hour shift any intern may complain about. so after i gave up the sport, i went looking for a "diploma bike" and found this. carefully set it up, and then set on a table in the garage as an element of respect/beauty. (and when youve devoted a good portion of your life to these bikes- they are that... from the feel of the grips, to the piston squish settings, to the sound the dry clutch... you get know and view these bikes as Keith Richards perhaps views a 1953 Fender Telecaster Blonde.) but enough hyperbole. Lets get to the bike... It is a 1996 with 98 body work and brains (-which is why i put 1997 in the title). so you have the best of all worlds. best chassis, and all pre- unleaded fuel. I tried to take some good pics that demonstrate the condition. Frame is 97%. No road rash or gravel pitting. the blue clear on the frame number plate is still perfect! Radiator is dead straight, tight, and never wadded. just shows slight wear from fairing rub and tire debris. Pipes are bone stock and in perfect condition. no repairs. no dents, creases or dings. and lets face it- the stockers give you the broadest useable power delivery. sure the Jolly Motos, TSRs, etc all look great, but they get mighty peaky and in a lot of cases actually lower lap times. Tank is perfect. no dents, repairs or body filler. Wheels are perfect. no crash damage, road bites or re-paints. End pipes are carbon and are crash free. no rash, burns or abrasions. Brand new chain. Bodywork- sharkskins, and freshly painted in basic gloss black. ready for your design. Everything is bone stock in excellent working condition. Fresh crank and top end with only one track day on it before i shelved it for 5 years. Took it down, topped off the radiator, put in some VP and A747... and she fired up real mean within 15ft. This has got to be one of the cleanest, tightest pre-unleaded fuel RSs out there -outside of something hidden away, still in a crate. Eveyone is going to ask about spares. to be honest, there's not much. Most of the technical stuff i've sold over the years, but she will come with at least one set of extra body work and some basic stuff. I'll photo that and add it to the post. With the above description and the attached pics, I'm kind of running low on what to say. Opening bid is set very (pathetically) low. the wheels, tank, barrels and crank could be parted out for the price of the opening bid. Local pickup is of course desired... and shipping/crating needs to be arranged by the purchaser. $500 deposit within 24 hours. all funds need to clear before anything moves. for about $100 i can deliver to a Forward Air terminal in either Tampa or Miami, which should put it on its way to anywhere it'd need to go. This could be your last chance at one of the cleanest, most cared for and well mantained RS250s left. Please ask any questions. but try to keep them intelligent so i dont go crazy... (NO you cannot plate this. NO it is not streetable. NO i will not ship to Nambia. NO i dont want the FZR400 your brother "hopped up" in trade. ETC) With all that being said, enjoy the pics. ask any questions. if youre serious and want to see the larger formats, just ask- i'll email them directly to your email. Need anythingspecific photographed? I'll take new ones. thanks for looking- and happy ebaying!!
