Vehicle Detail
This is a 1996 Geo Tracker in good condition with a few small problems. First of all, let me say the engine runs very smooth with no skipping or missing. I bought this car with the intention of fixing it up myself. I found that I really don't have time to devote to it like I thought I would. I saw great potential in this vehicle and still see it. I really like this Tracker and there are very few of them to be found these days. Very fun car to drive and great gas saver!! I am going to do my best to describe this car to the best of my ability. Like I said earlier, the engine is very smooth and quiet, the transmission shifts great and clutch is nice and tight. AC works good and heat works good also. There is a small oil leak and a small radiator leak. I think the leak from the radiator is either from the water pump or the seal around the top of the radiator. I think the oil leak is from the head valve gasket but not sure. Both of these leaks are small drips. The service engine light is on. I took it to Advance Auto where they diagnosed the problem as being the EGR valve or a gas cap issue. The gas cap I had on it was loose, so I bought a new one and the light went off for about a week and now is back on. I have not done anything with the EGR valve as of yet. As far as cosmetically, there are a few, what seem to be, minor issues. The window on the driver's side works, but will need to be adjusted. The passenger side window will not work and may be a cable broken inside the door. I have it in the up position right now. The soft top is in good condition with no leaks, and all the zippers to the windows and doors work fine. There is a cut on the back window that you can see in the picture, but has clear tape over it right now. Some of the Velcro that helps hold the top in place will need to be replaced, but the top is fully functional and can be taken off and put back on with no problems. As far as the paint job, it looks decent throughout except for the hood. The person I bought it from had a bra on it and the paint has faded on the hood. The tires are about 70% and look good (see pictures). The dashboard has no cracks, chips or fading and looks great. A Pioneer AM/FM/CD player has been installed and works fine. The passenger side seat back adjustment will have to be replaced. Right now, it is fixed in the upright position, but can't be moved forward or backward. You can move the whole seat forward or backward with ease. It's just the reclining part of the seat. This is the perfect car for a fixer upper. As far as I know, it has no major problems and it can be used as it is just fine, but to get it to near perfect condition, someone would need to make some minor repairs. Again, this is a very fun car to drive - turns well, brakes well, shifts well and has a very quiet running engine!
