Vehicle Detail
What I have here is a very very rare 1966 Mustang Ranchero 289 3 Speed car. Most people have never seen one. This car started out as a 1966 coupe and was converted by a company out west back in the 80's. This car was cut over the front seats and was shortened 16 inches. The trunk deck was removed and a truck bed was fashioned. There was only a handfull of these cars made before they stopped. It draws a huge crowd wherever I take it. Whether it be to a car show, cruise in or even Lowes. Since the conversion was done in the mid 80's the car has been well cared for. The paint although over 25 years old looks great and has a nice shine. There is non of the typical rust that you normally see with these cars. The sides are smooth and rust free. There are a few paint chips from age but nothing that takes away from the car. An 80's era pop up sunroof is installed and it opens and closes as it should. I trailer hitch has been installed that looks great. I have used the car to pull a tear drop trailer that I have and it tows great. I have also hooked up a pigtail so you can have tralier lites when you tow with it. All lites and electrical items work great as does the heater defrost ect. The radio is an aftermarket one and it sounds good. The interior looks good with no rips or tears in the seats. The carpet and headliner look good as well. It has an original set of rubber mustang mats. The seats have two tone black and red cover as do the door panels. All gauges work as they should. the 289 engine sounds good and only puts out a puff of smoke when you crank it sometimes. It does not use any oil and it runs nice and cool even on hot weather. The clutch works great and the 3 speed tranny shifts great. The brakes work good and stop the car straight which is unusual ofr drum brakes. The side windows are tinted plexiglass and go up and down as long as you apply a little pressure to them. They close but do not seal perfectly. The tires are like new and have plenty of tread on them. I have driven the car to several car shows as far away as 100 miles pulling my tear drop and it runs great. There is a custom made cover for the bed and there is a wood strip the fits under it to give it an arch so that water will not collect on the cover. There is a lockable area between the front of the bed and the interior of the car. It is a great place to store the spare and jack etc. There is quite a bit of room in there as well. The engine compartment is presentable but could use a little detailing. I do have a list of stuff that was done to it by the previous owner. The car spent most of its life in Ga. The underside of the car has some surface rust only which is typical for a car of this age. No rust through or other bad areas. The engine does drip a drop of oil from time to time. Nothing bad tho. This car is unique and a joy to own. I am only selling it because I bought a 67 Mustang Ranchero and I don't need two of them. Feel free to call with any questions. 334-393-8448.
