Vehicle Detail
We have owned our Edsel Corsair 2 Door Hardtop for 20 years. I bought it from a gentleman who bought it from the original owner. Spent most of its life in California. Power brakes, power steering, power windows, power seat, radio, clock, day/night mirror. 361 Super Express engine, 3 speed FMX transmission. 101,000 or so original miles. Runs and drives great, blows no oil, uses no oil. Front end rebuilt, nice and tight going down the road. Had it painted in 1992 in original President Red and Snow White. Paint still very nice. There are some small bubbles above the rear wheel wells that showed up shortly after the paint work, but have not worsened in the 19 years since. Nickle size bubble in corner of door. Replaced the carpet last winter and the floorpans are rock solid, inner extenson panels behind the rear wheels are rust free also. Bottom of both door have surface rust only. Body is not perfect and if you are seeking a show car condition this is not it. But this is a very solid example of a rare body style Edsel. Seat covers were added sometime in the 70's I would guess, but are very presentable and match the door panels. Never had them off so I do not know what is under them. Dual exhaust will need to be redone soon, it has holes where you can tell that water has pooled, but other than that the pipes are still solid. Brakes good, has been converted to DOT5. B.F. Goodrich Silvertowns from Coker. All glass good, An excellent candidate for a body off or just enjoy it as we have for the last 2 decades. A very comfortable, solid car to drive that has no problem doing 70 mph on the highway. Located in Flat Rock, Michigan, South of Detroit. Local pick up only, can help load. Reasonable reserve. The Southern California AAA Decal is the real thing, not a repop.....Any questions be happy to answer them. I can be reached at 734-735-2086. Thanks. On Aug-21-11 at 10:14:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve has just been lowered to a number much closer to the current bid. High bidder will also recieve with the car a genuine NOS Edsel Wax Treated Dusting Cloth (B8E-19517-A) in its never opened tin container and a NOS bottle of Edsel Chrome Cleaner (B8E-19522-A). Also to answer a few questions, the front mats are the correct Edsel accessory mats with the correct "E" displayed and are original to the car. The B.F. Goodrich Silvertown bias ply wide whites tires while they were put on about 15 years ago, are as new with about 8000 miles on them. Since the car was always stored inside there is no evidence of weather checking from ozone exposure to the sun. The skirts are steel Foxcraft aftermarket. The drivers side fender mirror is the rare Edsel specific mirror with the minature horsecollar on the front. The powertrain is original to the car and the 361 is a 4 barrell engine, the transmission is the optional dual range 3 speed automatic. When the brake system was converted over to DOT5 silicone about 10 years ago, the system was completely flushed, Treadle Vac rebuilt and all new wheel cylinders and shoes and spring kits were replaced before recharging with the DOT5. No issues at all with the brakes in the 10 years since. Hubcaps are 1958 spinners on the car when I got it. I have heared that the 58 color spinners were a proper accessory for the 59s, but can not document this. Radio not working, and the clock gave up the ghost several years ago.On Aug-23-11 at 16:10:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note: As noted in the original listing this vehicle sells to the United States only. If you have "0" feedback or negative feedback, I want to be contacted prior to your bid. If you are from Canada please contact me prior to your bid. Thanks! On Aug-23-11 at 19:55:59 PDT, seller added the following information: Some questions were asked about the condition of the glass as all the pictures have the windows down. All power windows work fine and all the glass including the windshield is the original Carlite or FoMoCo glass (I forgot which brand, but all the glass matches) No wiper haze on the windshield and all the side and rear glass is fine with no hazing. On Aug-24-11 at 11:29:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I will be out of town when the auction closes, but will have access to a computer, so if you are the winning bidder do not be alarmed if I can not get back to you right away. I will be back in town by Monday. Call me at 734-735-2086 with any questions prior to the auction close. Thanks! Warren.
