Vehicle Detail
2005 Dodge Sprinter inline 5 cylinder diesel 140"wb. 191k miles runs and drives like new. I bought this in May for my powder coating company and soon realized it was too small to handle all of the work I pick up and drop off. I just recently bought the exact same year, make, and model of sprinter, but its the taller and longer version, so this ones got to go. Now lets start with what I have done to it. I'm a big fan of preventative maintenance so I immediately did a full brake job, oil change with royal purple 15w40, K&N air filter, a cabin filter, and charged the A.C.. I needed a third seat in the front, so I custom fabricated a platform and spacers to fit a 2011 f350 center seat that flips into a center console. It looks so amazing that most people think its a factory seat including the two dealers I took it to. Now, I was on a trip back from pennsylvania when the sprinter went into limp mode. I did a ton of research on these because of this problem. Apparently the sprinter has four flaws. The conductor plate on the valve body in the transmission, the nag connector on the transmission, the turbo resonator, and rust issues. With that being said, I pulled into a dodge dealer in Ohio and had them change the turbo resonator, and I made it home safely, however a week later, it went back into limp mode. I brought it to the local Sprinter dealer and found out the nag connector wicked trans fluid all the way to the tcm and burnt it out so I had a new tcm installed and flashed. I brought it home and dropped the pan which by the way was the cleanest transmission I have ever worked on. I installed a new conductor plate, nag connector, filter and fluid and now it runs better than new. I tried to combat the space issue by installing a brand new curt 10,000lb trailer hitch and purchased a new 2011 12' trailer but it was too difficult to back in and out of loading docks to pick up materials so the hitch has only been used once for a 18 mile round trip. The only thing that I was going to do to this truck was an eventual paint job (I wanted it black) and the tires need to be changed. Not because they are bad or anything, but because they are the wrong size and load range. It doesnt affect the truck at all, except for the speedometer is off by 10mph. The tires all have around 70% life left, so I just left them alone. I tried to include everything, so if you still have questions, please feel free to give me a call. Thank you, Thomas McDermott 847-322-6666 I forgot to mention the exact reason I bought this thing in the first place, and replaced it with the same truck only larger. The mpg's! In town I average 25mpg and on the highway its around 32mpg's. It truly is an excellent truck and I wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere! It had shelving in it when I bought it, but I took it out. If you win the truck, the shelving will go with it free of charge, if you want it.
