Vehicle Detail
Currently selling my 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit 4-Speed Diesel Pickup. I bought it to have a vehicle which would get good gas mileage and have lots of space to haul things because I travel back and forth between college and my hometown a lot; a distance of about 300 miles. It had been working excellently and for mileage I was getting about 47 mpg when I calculated it. After the last trip home it wouldn't start, so I changed the glow plugs and now the engine is smoking, so I'm not sure what the issue is. I've looked to see if I can tell where the smoke is actually coming from but I cannot tell for sure. It could be a minor issue that I just can't figure out, I'm not particularly knowledgeable about cars, but either way right now I don't have the time or money to fix the problem with school about to start for the fall. Anyhow I've tried to come up with as many of the problems I can think of and will add more if I think of them: The Good: Clean interior Low Rust Clean truck bed New muffler New glow plugs New brakes and brake lines Rust free strut towers Working AC All brand new tires including brand new spare as well, less than 2000 miles on them. Includes topper, which has been on the vehicle since purchase Used mostly as a farm truck until I purchased it so it avoided salty MN/WI roads for the most part. New Oil pressure sensor Excellent gas mileage Original floor mats Awesome Bugs Bunny mudflaps The Bad:Currently starts, but smokes out from under the hood Housing for 1st glow plug (far left glow plug) cracked and the plug got stuck in the housing. To fix it was JB welded in, so there are only 3 working glow plugs. Latch on tailgate doesn't work, you can still open the tailgate but it takes a little more force. Interior ceiling cover is partially detached, so needs to be glued or reattached somehow. Small fuel leak somewhere near tankSome of the rubber seals on the topper leak Rust on the vehicle is mostly surface rust, see the pictures for a better description Both gas and RPM gauge do not work The change holder piece of the center console is missing. It was never a big deal to me to have, but I have seen them sell for $40-80 online. One of the glove box hinges is broken Metal arm that holds the drivers side door open is missing AC Belt is loose and have had issues with it falling off in the past. I think I got it tightened up enough that it hasn't been an issue lately. There is some oil blow back into the air filter. Drivers side mirror is warped, and passengers side mirror has a crack in it. Small ding in the windshield. For a better description of all of the problems shown I have a bunch of pictures online you can look through that highlight most of the issues: https://picasaweb.google.com/jonathanmollet1/August112011?authuser=0&feat=directlink The vehicle is sold as-is and local pickup is a must. I've tried to list as many of the problems as I can think of, most of them are pretty insignificant but I want you to be as well informed as you possibly can be.
