HERE i GO. I AM LISTING MY 1973 SPITFIRE TO SELL. AFTER OPENING BID , THERE IS NO RESERVE . HIGH BIDDER GETS IT. PICK UP OR TRANSPORTATION IS STICKLY UP TO THE BUYER. NOW I AM GOING TO BE AS HONEST AS I CAN BE! 1st. IT WAS NOT RUNNING WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I TRAILERED IT FROM FL. AFTER BUYING IT ON EBAY ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. I GOT IT HOME AND WENT TO WORK ON IT. 1. NEW BATTERY 2.NEW STARTER 3. NEW WATER PUMP 4. NEW FUEL PUMP 5. NEW MASTER CLY. FOR CLUTCH 6. REPLACED RUSTY TRUNK LID 7. new points ,condensor, plugs. rotor , distribtor cap AFTER DOING ALL THIS IT RAN LIKE A TOP. FUN CAR TO DRIVE. BRAKES ARE OKAY,GAS LINES GOOD ,TANK IS GOOD . THE MOTOR DOES RUN VERY GOOD/ BUT HERE IS THE PROBLEM. THE FLOAT WAS STICKING AND FLOODING IT OUT. I TOOK THE BOWL OFF FIXED THE FLOAT. BUT I NOTICED THE O-RING WAS BAD, I BOUGHT A KIT TO REBUILD BUT THE O-RING DOES NOT COME IN THE KIT. SO I BOUGHT ANOTHER CARB AND MANIFOLD ON EBAY. THIS HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I CAN NOT FIND ANYONE WHO WILL REBUILD IT FOR ME. I DON'T HAVE THE $300 TO CONVERT IT OVER TO A WEBER CARB. SO MY LOSS COULD BE YOUR GAIN. TRUST ME THIS IS NOT A BARN FIND, IT IS WAY AHEAD OF ONE OF THOSE. BUT IT WILL NEED TLC. THE OTHER PROBLEM THAT I HAVE WITH IT IS THAT IT DOES NOT GO INTO REVERSE. THE SHIFTER MOVES TO THAT LOCATION BUT IT IS NOT IN REVERSE. 1,2,3,4 WORK FIND WITH NO NOISE. I TALKED WITH A FEW GUYS ABOUT IT ON EBAY, MOST SAY THAT IS RARE FOR THE REVERSE TO GO OUT, IT MUST BE THE LINKAGE?????? THAT'S WHAT I THINK TOO. ALSO THE TRUCK LID WAS RUSTED BAD AROUND THE BACK. I PUT ANOTHER ONE THAT IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE ON IT. THE ONLY RUST IS A LITTLE AROUND THE FRONT OF THE REAR FENDER WELLS AND HERE THE BONNET HINGES ARE, NOTHING THAT WOULD BE A BIG FIX. THIS IS NOT A RUST BUCKET. ALSO THE PANS IN THE FRONT FLOOR BOARD WAS REPLACED BY OLD OWNER. THE SEATS ARE NOT TO BAD. THE DASH PAD IS OFF BUT I DO HAVE IT. IT DOES NOT HAVE A TOP OR FRAME FOR THE TOP. TIRES ARE OKAY,NOT NEW BUT SHOULD LAST AWHILE. IT HAS MINI COOPER WHEELS ON IT. I HAVE TRIED TO COVER EVERYTHING I KNOW. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK. ALSO IT IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED AND TAGGED IN ALABAMA. ALABAMA DOES NOT REQUIRE TITLE FOR ANYTHING UNDER A 1975 MODEL. BUT I DO HAVE A CLEAR FLORIDA TITLE WITH IT (IN HAND) IT IS LOCATED IN SOUTH ALABAMA. REMEMBER THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESSS, NO RUNNING (DUE TO BAD CARB) AT THIS TIME. ALSO WOULD TRADE FOR A STUDEBAKER OR AN AMC ,OR WHAT EVER???? BUILT AUG 19 1973 I HAVE ADDED A PICTURE OF A CONVERSION CARB KIT AVAILABLE ON EBAY BY SELLER USERID 863753 I HAVE ABOUT $2500 IN THIS CAR, HOPE TO RECOVER MOST IF NOT ALL.
