For Sale is my 1981 TRANS AM. I do not want to sell but buying a new home forces the sale. This car is RUST FREE with beautiful Mayan red paint. It was repainted the factory color over 10 years ago and still shines. A very straight solid car with not even a hint of any kind of rust at the bottom of the inside of the doors where most have it, they look basically new. Decals are gold. It was originally equipped with a Pontiac 301 but the original and previous owner built a 4 bolt main early Chevy 350(bored to 355) with the right amount of goodies added and inserted it in place. It will set you back in your seat while smoking the rubber. Has headers with side exhaust and is gratifyingly loud. Edelbrock intake with edelbrock 600 carb. 4 speed MANUAL TRANSMISSION transmission. i believe the rear gears are 3;73 but am not for sure. i have a set of 4;11s in the box that came with the car.4 wheel disc brakes. Line lock. Interior is in excellent condition, no rips or tears. I believe in armor-all. New tires last year with about 1000 miles on them, 60s front, 50s back. Rear air shocks. New battery. The trunk has been sprayed with black bed liner and looks great. This car gets thumbs up wherever it goes. I get it out of storage(NEVER driven in the winter)in May and put it back at the end of September with between 500 and thousand miles only put on in a summer. This summer it has had less than 200 so far if that, been out 4 or 5 times. The odometer says 147953 but the motor has about 30,000 miles on it. The previous owner did a very nice restoration about 13 years ago. It has never seen snow or salt and only gets washed about 4-5 times a year as it sits the majority of the time in the garage. Every oil change I have included Lucas oil treatment. I have babied this thing as long as I have owned it. All you need to do is put on the seat belt, turn the key and go. On Aug-13-11 at 13:09:19 PDT, seller added the following information: I do have the build sheet for the car.. the engine runs smooth and is as strong as a horse, has aftermarket cam and other hi-po stuff. it was built right when done and sounds like it. manual 4 speed transmission has no issues and has the short throw set-up with line loc button on the handle. aftermarket cassette with new 6x9s and small equalizer/booster but i would rather listen to the car than the stereo. dash, door panels and seats all in great condition as i armor-all monthly. all rubber seals were replaced when re-painted just before i bought it and are basically in good shape. all brake and fuel lines are excellent.floors and undercarriage are rust free and solid. this car has never seen salt. it has seen rain maybe 2-3 times in the 13 years i have owned it and then only because i was caught in it trying to get home and get in the garage. we take it to the St. Ignace, Michigan car show every June and people love it.
