Vehicle Detail
I love a good auction. I’ve decided to list my 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera for a no reserve auction starting at $1. My car is a rear-wheel drive naturally aspirated sunroof coupe. It has 46,900 miles and I have owned it for five years. I bought the car from my boss and I have most of the history and maintenance records since new. (It was purchased in Raleigh, NC and moved to Tampa, FL in 2006.) This 911 is black over black. Options include: factory LSD, factory hollow spoke turbo twist wheels, ROW030 Porsche sport suspension package, carbon fiber interior trim accents, side skirts, stainless door sills, and TechArt stainless exhaust. It has no dents, scratches or door dings. I am a long term eBay member and have bought and sold a lot of items including cars. I won’t exaggerate conditions of the car in anyway. If you buy a car sight-unseen you need information you count on. To be blunt, if you want an early black 996 coupe, this one is in spectacular condition both mechanically and cosmetically. I am an active PCA member and have treated the car well. All service has been done at either Reeves Porsche in Tampa or my favorite independent, Rennen Motors of Tampa. All oil changes with Mobil 1. Tires are Continentals. Fronts are brand new, and rears are at 50%. Wheels show occasional scuffs . This has been my daily driver since it had 19,000 miles so there is some wear and tear that could not be avoided. There are some blemishes in the plastic bumper cover and the front of the hood. I will do my best to photograph them, but I would describe the paint condition as “unbelievable” for a car that has been in service for 13 years. The interior is extremely clean. The driver’s side seat bolster has only very minimal wear. The leather on the stick shift and steering wheel also show very minimal wear. As you know if you’ve read this far, Porsche sound systems are poor at best. Though this one will win no awards, the stock head has been complimented with a Rockford-Fosgate power amplifier in the front bonnet and a bazooka subwoofer in the rear deck. It sounds clear and full. The headlights are clear and show no chalking or aging. The car has always been garaged both at my home and at my office. I have driven the car once at a PCA performance driving class at Sebring and it was a blast. But the car has been driven conservatively with the occasional 4k+ RPMs for on-ramp fun. I live in Tampa and any serious buyer may arrange a pre-purchase inspection. I will assist with coordination of shipping but those arrangements and cost are to be paid by the buyer. As to the car’s weaknesses, it was in an accident while my boss lived in Raleigh. The front left fender was replaced with a factory part and painted to original specs. I guarantee that in no light conditions nor from any angle does this fender paint color and texture vary in appearance to the surrounding sheet metal. No body filler. No mechanical damage. No variation in body gaps. Since I’ve owned the car I had to replace a transmission mount that was causing some play in the driveline. I’ve also had to replace the mass airflow sensor. This car has no issues of any intermix as some early 996s did. Kelley Blue Book value for this car at Private Party Pricing in “good” condition is $22,400. What will it sell for here? $9,000? $12,000? $18,000? Jump into the auction and win a great car that I am proud to have owned and cared for. Thanks for checking out my auction. Jack King.
