Vehicle Detail

This is a true Classic Car in every sense of the word. Manufactured in 1972 but classified as a 1973 Model, it is over 37 years old and is bound to appreciate in value as time goes by and it becomes rarer and rarer to find. I would dearly like it to be bought by a true Connoisseur or Collector who has the time, money and patience to restore it to its original glory and then just enjoy and admire looking at it and driving it as I do today! It is a 300SEL Mercedes Benz and only second to the Luxury Flagship vehicle of that era which was the mighty and Powerful 600SEL that had a 6.3L engine. This is a V-8, has a 4.5L engine and the extras include: Fuel Injection, Air-Ride Suspension, Power Assisted Steering, Power Door Locks, Power Sunroof, Power Aerial and Air-Conditioning. For a 1973 Vehicle that is pretty impressive! It looks beautiful and majestic with its chrome stacked headlights, chrome surrounded orange side-indicator lights, chrome double bumpers front and back, chrome grill and chrome 3-pointed MB Star. There is more chrome all around the front and back windscreens, all around the side windows, along the side coach linings, chrome hub caps, chrome rear number plate lights, chrome tail-pipes and chrome door handles. There is also more chrome on the inside which enhance the looks of this antique vehicle. See all the pictures. I have owned it since July 1st 2002 and I have kept the vehicle as close to original as possible. Even though I have spent a few thousand dollars on mechanical repairs and also an inexpensive bare-metal respray, in the 9 years since I have owned it, I may have driven the vehicle a maximum of 500 miles (five hundred miles only) just to keep the fluids moving around the pipes and hoses. It has the original leather seats and front head rests which are in very good condition as you can see by the pictures, it also has the original Becker Stereo and Becker Cassette player. There are no dents or dings, I have never had any accidents in it, body lines are all straight, chrome is all up together and not dented but the vehicle does need a lot of restoration. Although mostly solid the paint has started to fade due the Arizona heat and now Florida Sunshine but has not cracked; there is a minor transmition or oil seal leak; the rear/back air bellows (air bag suspension) leaks but when you start and drive the car the bellows inflate properly and you can adjust height of ride using the lever inside the car; A/C works but needs charging and looking at; the Walnut burr wood inside needs restoring as the does the dash board which is showing cracks, the head lining needs looking at and the carpets need replacing, The speedometer is a 5-digit one and miles current showing is 36,587, so this is not correct mileage since the speedo has never really worked since I bought the vehicle. It will be a restoration project for whoever ends up bidding and buying the vehicle but since it drives and most things work you can enjoy it as you restore it. I have put a low reserve on it so good luck in your bidding! As mentioned above, I honestly would like it to go to a true Connoisseur or Collector who has the resources to restore it properly and give it the TLC it deserves.
