Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1965 GTO project car. It's a real, PHS documented GTO. I have owned the car for about three years and I just don't have the time or the money to restore this car. When I purchased the car it started and moved under its own power, though the brakes were almost completely shot. It has been parked for three years and the rear tires have both gone flat and do not hold air. The engine will start and run for a few seconds with gas poured in the carb. My guess is either a blocked fuel line, bad fuel pump or bad gas in the tank prevent the car from starting. So, needless to say, wih the inoperable brakes, two flat tires and the engine not starting, the car will have to be hauled up onto a trailer or whatever vehicle comes to pick it up. This is a no reserve auction with a starting bid at about half of what I have in the car (including what I paid for the car plus all of the parts that come with it). Please, serious bidders only. I will answer all questions as quickly as possible, but I work three jobs so it may take me 24 hours to respond. I will describe the car below: 1965 GTO, non-post car 389 Engine with 4 barrel carb 2 speed automatic transmission Currently a faded red / burgundy color but came from the factory as Charcoal Blue Black interior Came from the factory with power windows / power steering / power brakes / power antenna Condition: Rust in the normal places (fenders, trunk floor, front floor pans, rear quarter panels) Condition of trans unknown since I only drove it once for a couple hundred feet As stated before, engine runs for a few seconds with gas in the carb, but does not stay started True miles unknown Brakes inoperable Interior is in fairly good shape. Dash is good, seats are good except for a big slice in the driver's seat, carpet is shot but headliner is in good shape. Center console is in fair condition. Condition of frame is unknown because I never got that far with the project. My intent was to do a frame-off resto and if the frame was bad to buy a donor frame ( Check Frank's Pontiac Parts...they usually sell solid frames for these cars for around $600). Parts that come with car: Patch panels for lower portion of front fenders (just behind the wheel....the place that is always rusted out). Patch panels for lower portion of quarter panels (just behind the wheel, also usually rusted out on these cars) Full trunk floor kit (3 piece plus the braces) Most of what you need to redo the brakes: All new pre bent brake lines, brake shoes, brake hardware, master cylinder, rubber brake hoses, clips that attach the brake lines to the frame) New set of wheel bearings for all four wheels New fuel tank, straps and sending unit Overall, this is a very complete car and will make a great restoration project for the right person who has the time and the space to do it. The good news is that I never started the project, meaning the car is all together and not sitting in a garage taken apart with pieces stored in boxes all over the place. It's an unusual car in the sense that it has power windows, steering, brakes, etc. I truly wanted to do this project myself, but reality has set in and I realize that I probably won't have time until I retire in 20 years. Lots of quality parts come with the car to get you well on your way with the project. Like I said at the beginning, I'm in the car for about twice the opening bid...so my loss is your gain. TERMS: Please, serious bidders only. This is a no reserve auction, so bid only if you intend to purchase the car. Vehicle sold as-is, where-is. Transportation is at the responsibility and expense of the purchaser. Purchaser must make all shipping arrangements. I will be as flexible as I can as far as meeting the purchaser (or their shipper) at this end, but please understand that I work two jobs and have a tight schedule. $500, non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction close. This must be paid via PayPal. Remainder of the funds due within 7 days of auction close. I will accept cashier's checks or other certified funds only (no PayPal as the fees would be prohibitive). Vehicle and title will only be released to the purchaser when funds clear my bank. Please note that this can take several days or more, even for cashier's checks. Vehicle must be picked up within 30 days of auction close. Ask any and all questions BEFORE you bid. I will do my best to answer questions within 24 hours. I reserve the right to cancel bids from bidders with low feedback or no feedback. Please contact me before bidding if you have a feedback rating below 5.
