Vehicle Detail
A TRUE SURVIVOR. 45k all original 1983 Jeep cJ7. Original Metallic Silver Clearcoat with black interior It has been in my family since July 17th 1988. We bought this Jeep from an airline pilot in Chicago. This Jeep had 15k miles on it when we bought it and was showroom new condition. This Jeep has always been garage stored and never driven winters. It has all original drivetrain including original tires and original unused spare tire. The brakes are original and will need replacing soon. The 4.2L straight six is all original and runs perfectly. No smoke, no leaks, no knocks. This motor is just broken in at 45k miles. The T-4 4-speed and clutch shift without issue. This Jeep has always been meticulously maintained. This Jeep has always been and is very reliable. As you can see in the pics this Jeep in very good shape. What has helped this Jeep survive in the shape it is in is partially due to the Protector Rust Preventor Treatment it received when new. The pics of the undercarrage and underhood show the flat black sprayed on Protector treatment. The rockers and undercarrage very solid. The Jeeps interior is pristeen original. No rips or tears. All glass is good, no cracks. Also, as you can see in the pics, there are some rust holes in the passenger and drivers floor boards. These are small holes and would not need full floor board replacement to repair. Water collects under the carpet and caused this rusting. The Jeeps exterior presents well but does need paint. Anyone who knows Jeep knows that at AMC paint quality was less than good. The original paint would peel off in places over the years and cause surface rust. I would touch up the areas with matched paint and clear coat the best that I could. The left front fender has a small amount of damage caused by backing out of the garage and turning the wheel to quickly and catching the door opening. The original mud flap is not damaged nor is the amber side light. This can be easily repaired repaired with body filler when repainted. So there you have it. An all original survivor with 45k miles on it. This Jeep is ready for summer fun! Drive it this summer then repaint it this winter. This Jeep comes with an original dealer ordered bikini top that is in perfect condition. The original owners manual and warranty book are still in the glove box.
