I purchased this rare GS Katana 1000S in an Estate Sale in early June 2011. The bike was always garaged and shows no sign of exposure to inclement weather. I will provide as much information as possible based on my maintenace evaluation and corrective action taken to ensure the bike is one that I would purchase. New battery, air filters, front turn signals and changed oil and filter. It has Mikuni 33mm smoothbore carbs and was serviced at a local Motorcycle Shop. Rear tire is a Metzler 140/80 ZR 17 and is in good condition, I've ordered a new Dunlop for the front and will be installed prior to buyer receipt of the bike. Inspected crank to ensure it was straight and not twisted and rotor and left end are ok also. Clutch basket is in good shape, but not welded as normally done to ensure longevity and the clutch cavity area in the cases is perfect and shows no sign of basket explosion. All electrical components are functioning properly (ie. lights, turn signals, tach, brake lights, high and low beam). The seat is in great condition, original color, no tears and fits properly. Transmission shift out good and the bike tracked straight when I rode it and turn the handlebars loose. The gas tank was steam cleaned and shows no signs of rust, only black spots from minor rust in the past. Flaws are in the fairnig and I will describe it as best that I can: wind screen dull but not cracked, right turn signal mounting hole was repaired by me but not fully filled in, it was damaged manuvering in a garage, a small crack 1/2" in the throttle rest area, throttle cable rubbed atop, and original silver paint peeled off but was touched up. The photo should highlight this, if not request a specific photo and I will send. Tank has 2 small dents about 1/2" each barely noticeable, but once again should be seen in photos. The carbs and Yoshimura pipe are the only non-factory addons that I've identified. The bike was last licensed in Florida in 2003 and was garaged since and it has 8,243 miles.
