Vehicle Detail

While this car is a major project it has the (in my opinion ) all the makings of a top-flite stang to see sitting in the line up at a car show. For those of you who know mustangs you will see why immediately by the door tag I have referenced above. For anyone who needs to ask; the car needs a complete going over, that means in addition to there being the obious visual stuff missing, the car needs quarter panels, and full length floors/surprisingly the front rails, shock towers and rear frame rails (while certainly not perfect nor new-they are 45 years old) are in pretty good shape. This car is a super early production (note August 1964) fastback. I am sure you know that the fastbacks began production in August 1964 following the debut of the Mustang at the Ford dealerships on April 17, 1964. This much sought after body stye was the ultimate way of making the AMERICA PONY car real sporty/racing looking. It also became the platform for the FIRST SHELBY. You may also know that by April 17, 1965 Ford debuted the GT model. All of those were disc brake cars and at least the A code 289 4v 225 horsepower engine (which this car had the A code and was disc brakes factory) so you are looking at the GT before there was a GT. Add to this a much desired 4 speed manual and you had a neat little pocket rocket. While the disc brakes, and 289 4 speed are gone I did locate them (and for that matter a period correct engine and trans) and I would pass along that information to the buyer if he or she so chooses. Now what I think is the kicker is the color combination. An original black exterior with white interior combo and the car was produced in the San Jose plant making it also unique as an R code car. Most of the early fastbacks were produced in the Dearborn, Mi plant. It is basically a what you see is what you get deal but I would throw in a completely usable drivers side door, fender and hood. Any serious buyer can contact me during the auction and I prefer to hear from people during the auction because as you also probably know; the parts to restore the car are reasonably easy to buy and or otherwise find. IE... I also have the lead on the door glass, rear window, windshield (I would put a new one in) and some if not most all of the interior. I have a clear Connecticuit certificate of Ownership in hand... I have little doubt this is and will be one of the cheapest mustangs listed and that is because the car is incomplete, but I assure you when restored there are few that are more valuable. Thanks for looking..
