Up for auction is a 1942 DeSoto 4 door DeLuxe. Car has 43,012 original miles, 237 ci/3.9 litre flathead 6 cylinder, with Fluid Drive high/low transmission. Extremely desirable 1 year only body style with Air Foil (...out of sight, except at night) hideaway headlights - the first American production car to have such a feature (while Cord offered cars with covered headlights before this, they're more of a specialty vehicle compared to a GM/Ford/Chrysler). When DeSoto production resumed in 1946 after a 3 year lapse due to World War II, the Air Flow lights did not return. These cars are not commonly available for sale in any condition. Car has not been tested to run in appx. 5 years - at the time it ran pretty well, with no smoking/overheating/etc. New wheel cylinders and brake hoses were installed at that time. Vintage 16x6.5 bias ply tires. Original radio. 1949 New Jersey inspection/registration sticker in passenger windshield. This DeSoto has been in used multiple movies for the past 20+ years.
