Vehicle Detail
This car has been in the family since 1974. It was used as a fairweather occasional driver during the summer months up until 1985. The engine and all other functions were normal, the car was parked due to faulty brakes. It was a project that was scheduled for a major refurbish, but due to other priorities it never happened. Now, with some regret, it's time to find a new owner that will give it another life. The car was covered and stored in southern Ontario in a large 6 bay garage, dry but unheated. The car is reasonably well preserved. The sheet metal is good, only sign of rust is right rear inner fender, which was prior to storage. The leather seat is aged, dry with some stains. Will probably crack and tear quickly with use. Door panels are aged as normal. The metal top is shown, there is no canvas. There are no side curtains, they were not with the car at purchase. No crank and no tools. What is shown is the shop manual (well used), and the owners manual (mint). 1. Brakes are required. Drums are not worn and are usable. Shoes, cylinders, hoses, cables and lines are all to be replaced. 2. Engine has survived well. It was drained of water and fuel. The fuel pump, dampers and float bowls are all clean with no odor of old fuel. The engine turns manually with normal resistance. Water pump and generator turn normal. Distributor is clean looking inside and out. The engine is not the factory original. It is a dealer replacement, prior to my ownership. Engine should start after normal maintenance. 3. Fuel tank has a rust spot and will require shop repairs. 4. Exhaust system is questionable. Muffler for sure so probably complete system is a good idea. 5. Appearance.....the paint was done just prior to purchase, and might be questionable. However that was almost 30 years ago so it is probably normal. The front fender shows body work, but the metal is solid and the damage looks minor. the chrome is original and deteriorated, but also minor. These things are to each owners personal standard. There is a 2-3" crack in the windshield at the RH hinge point not affecting vision, 6. Wiring.....I have left this to the last. This would be the biggest concern with the car. Although I was the last driver of this car, the wires are not serviceable. They are, for the most part, original. They are cracked and brittle and I would not connect a battery until I was sure of this condition. The last area of concern is the wood. I cannot answer for the car during the 21 or so years prior to my purchase. I have no expertise in the T-car wood bodies. This car has not been in the rain during my time. It seems a little rough in places, but all things considered it is original and certainly driveable.
