1968 Dodge Charger Rare 1968 Dodge Charger – Unique! We hate to part with this car. Nothing beats the fun of riding around in this eye catcher and driving a true American classic! But it’s the same old story, time to focus on the kids and let this one go to someone who has the time to enjoy it. We purchased this car as a toy a few years ago. The previous owner made a few modifications. This is NOT a numbers matching car. The car has some cosmetic modifications from stock. The door handles and door locks have been shaved. The antenna hole has also been shaved. The drip rail has been removed. The side windows were removed and the window casings were fiberglassed and smoothed over. See pictures. The power plant is a custom block 440 block, which is a 452. The previous owner paid $12000 for the motor in 2000. The motor has less than 2500 miles on it. As it has only left the garage for local car shows and occasion cruising. The biggest change we mad was a new carb a couple summer ago. The engine was professionally installed. It has a GM ignition system. It has an extra large radiator. It has power steering installed. The engine also has a nitrous system. It has either a 100 or 150 shot on it now, but can go up to 250. The nitrous has been used just a handful of times. The transmission is a 727. It is a reverse manual valve body. Some call it a stick without a clutch. You have to shift it, but if you forget it won’t stall. It is shifted with a quarter stick, with reversed lock out, which has the nitrous button on the knob. The tranny has been built to handle the horses. We have a spare 727, which has the traditional valve body. It only has 300 miles on it and was built for the same motor. The extra transmission is included with the car, but you will need to transport it. The drive shaft was newer and also has less than 2500 miles on it. The rear end is an 8 ¾ with 3.55 gears. The car has four wheel disc brakes. The rear end uses Curry axles with ford Explorer disc brakes. The front end brakes are original 68 Charger disc brakes, but did not come stock with the car. Other extras include welded frame connectors, fuel cell in the trunk, and truck mounted battery. The car has a custom six point roll bar, a new steering wheel, & new starter. The car has a custom dash. Most of the electrical was redone with the new dash. The car has new headlights with all four lights wired to both go on when the brights are on instead of just the two inside lights. Hideaway headlights work. There are racing seats in the front and no seats in the back. The bare frame of the rear bench seat is included if you want it. The Car was painted in October 2007. It is plumb crazy purple. Under the hood and trunk are black. The previous owner had the car to the track. With slicks it ran in the 12s on the small shot of nitrous without pushing the car at all. Afterwards, he had the entire interior was then ripped out, the car is several hundred pounds lighter now so should be even faster- especially if you drive aggressively. This is car is not perfect, far from it. The windshield wipers do not work. Since it has no side windows this has not been a problem as it would not make sense to drive it in the rain. All they need is a new motor. The car had rust on it and the previous owner installed patch panels under the hood and replaced the trunk. The custom body work is quite rough in spots where it transitions to the interior. The entire interior has been painted gray. The car also comes with a second set of wheels and tires, which are the original “Dukes of Hazzard” wheels. The tires on them with about 1000 miles. Once again, you will have to figure out how to transport them. Car is for sale locally and we reserve the right to end this auction at any point pending locally sale. No trades will be considered.
