Vehicle Detail

I am selling this car because I bought this car for my son, and it and it was not what I expected. The guy I bought it from here on Ebay was less than honest. He stated the car was a 1972 Z28 with a 396cu which had recently been rebuilt. He stated the body was perfect with absolutely no rust, the interior was in great shape, and the car ran like a dream. Obviously, that is not the truth or else I would not be selling her. THE GOOD The car does have potential if you know how to do body work, engine work, and have time, money, and patience. And, I have a clear title for her. Brand new battery. Locking special aftermarket aluminum/chrome rims with lock key to prevent theft of rims and/or tires. THE BAD The body is in need of ALOT of love. The rocker panels and fenders have rust on them that can visibly be seen when walking around the car. The battery tray is rusted completely out and has a piece of metal laying on it to keep it in. Good news is that when you buy this car, you get an absolutely brand new battery, because when the car came, the original battery was dead so I replaced that for you. There is rust in the trunk area as well. The paint looks good from a distance, but is definitely not showroom quality. There are various scratches and dings all over the car, including a pretty bad scratch on the decklid. The interior was hidden under seat covers, but the front seats have numerous tears in them with the white foam padding showing through, so they need to be replaced. But, the back seats look good and are tear free :) The back part of the center console is cracked and probably needs to be replaced. Both door panels are original and need to be replaced. The ignition pulls out of the steering column when you remove the key...I was told it is only missing the 'lock ring' that holds it in place. The tires are probably going to need to replaced soon as well. The car is equipped with aluminum/chrome aftermarket rims with a locking mechanism to prevent them from being stolen (see pics). I could not get the car to run when I got it, but I replaced the plugs, wires, and filters, and it actually does run and sound good for about 30 seconds, then it fouls the spark plugs and dies. When you remove the spark plug, it is covered in a black powdery substance, which the guy at Autozone said is a sign of over carbeuration or too much gas. So, I replaced the plugs again, played with the carbeurator and got it to run smooth and like a top for about 45 seconds before it fouled the plugs and died again. I went through this process 4 or 5 times, and actually got it to run for over a minute the last three times I started it, before it fouled the plugs. When she is running, she does sound good. The problem is that I can't keep her running. The guy at Autozone then stated it has a Holley double pump 750 carbeurator, which is supposedly too big for this engine. He said it only needs a 600 or 650. He said the carbeurator float valves may be stuck or leaking so it might just need to be rebuilt. And, you smell a strong odor of gasoline every time you try to start her, so he is probably right. He also said the plugs went to a 327cu engine, not a 396cu. I bought this car looking for something that my son could drive and enjoy and just tinker around with, which is what I was promised when I bought this car. Truth is, I am not a mechanic. I am not a body repairman. I do not have a lot of money. I do not have the skill-set or knowledge to fix this car, and honestly don't have the time, desire, or patience. Therefore, this car is not the one for us. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have and the car is available to be looked at whenever you want to see her. Truth is, she does have potential, I just don't know how to do what needs to be done and am very frustrated because of it. I am simply trying to get my money back on it, which is how I came up with the buy it now price, but if you want to make a reasonable offer, I am open to suggestions. (859)-576-0321. My name is Will. Also, buyer is responsible for all shipping and handling charges. When getting a price quote for shipping, list her as 'not running', because like I said, I can't keep her running and havent been able to drive her. I do not require a deposit, but I will not allow the car to leave until the check, money order, or cash clears the banks. Some of these pictures were taken after my son washed and waxed the car just so you could see how she looks when she is shined up, and some are taken in her natural resting unwashed state. The hole pictured in the rocker panel is on the right side rocker. No warranty is implied or expressed in any way. I have described this car as accurately as possible, but again, I am not a mechanic or body man, so please ask any questions and feel free to look at her before you buy her. She has potential, but I would consider her in 'rough' condition and a long term project.
