Up for auction is a restored 1980 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1500. This 31 year old British made sportscar is a registered antique and is a rare find with a hardtop, soft top, and overdrive transmission. This is a great find for the sportscar enthusiast, investor, or collector. The car has been completely restored and has been driven very little in the past four years, a few car shows and down the street and back, my granddaughter liked to be picked up from school in it. I am a defense contractor and I only get home a few weeks a year so the car sits in my driveway covered unused. My daughter drives it around the block every couple of weeks. I can't give the car any more attention and I also need to raise some money so I reluctantly letting this car go. This is a beautiful car and is a good deal at the buy-it-now price. I hope to pass it on to another Spitfire/sportscar enthusiast or collector who can appreciate it. The previous owner did the majority of restoration, body work, painting, and mechanical work. The only thing that the car needs to be 100% is the turn signal switch (arm), the reflector replaced on the front pass side, the horn and new speedometer cable. I have the new horn and the reflector but I have not installed them. The horn is a nice three trumpet (red) air horn that will look nice in the engine compartment and will be much louder than the original horn. I also have the reflector. I have not purchased the speedometer cable or turn signal arm but these are easy to get from Victoria British. You can check out their online catalog if you are not familiar with them. I have already purchased the parts to upgrade the suspension too although the current suspension is fine, I just wanted to lower and stiffen the front end for better handling. I have installed the adjustable shocks on the rear but have not yet installed the uprated coil springs and on the front that will lower the front end one inch and stiffen the suspension for improved handling. All these parts and some additional original parts will come with the car also. I have installed trim on the wheel rims that really set the car off. Also included is a quality car cover and lock for storage in any weather. The soft top is brand new. As I mentioned, this Spitfire includes a hardtop hard top that gives the car a totally different look. The original glass is included but has not been re-installed into the hardtop. The complete Triumph Spitfire repair manual is included. If you are familiar with the Spitfire, you know how valuable it is to have the electronic overdrive transmission. The electronic overdrive works from a switch on the shifter that lowers the RPMs for highway driving in 4th gear. This greatly reduces stress on the engine and engine noise and makes the car ride at a comfortable RPM. The overdrive works perfectly. This is my second Spit and I will undoubtedly have another when the timing is better for me. I hope to pass this in to someone who can appreciate the car. A Spitfire always gets a lot of attention and this one is a stand out. Again this car is a great find for the collector or investor and is only going up in value, especially that this is the first year it qualifies as an antique.
