If you love '50's Cadillacs, this one's for you! It shows and drives great, a combination of restoration and preservation that will remind you of a dealer-maintained classic "preserved in time." When you open the hood, the rebuilt 331 V-8 has been correctly detailed from factory photos and conversation with Cadillac Archives division. The original inside is incredibly well-preserved with its OEM overstuffed leather and cloth seats and near-perfect chrome ribbed headliner. The leather dash retains its original gauges--no need for aftermarket hangdowns here--because the car does what it's supposed to do; has great oil pressure, runs at normal temperature and charges the electrical system. At the bottom center of the dash is the correct Cadillac A/C control to bring cold air into the cabin for comfortable in-town and on the road touring. Outside is a correct-for-'54 color combination of Azure Blue with Arctic White top (lacquer, of course) with sabre wheels, wide white walls and continental kit. It's the epitome of '50's styling. Before starting the restoration, we contacted Cadillac’s Archives division, bought factory Cadillac Motors and parts Manuals, and chose one of the best engine builders/machinists in the South to build this engine (I have his log of what was done.) HISTORY: This is an original Scottsdale, Arizona car. After it was purchased, I was told the dealer installed the correct A/C (trunk unit and Cadillac dash control). They did not mount the exterior pods (I have a set painted Azure Blue that come with the car). The car was sold to an Indiana collector who had it professionally painted in its 1954-correct Azure Blue with Arctic White top (acrylic lacquer, hand-rubbed). I bought it in 1996 and went through the car bumper to bumper. It needed very little cosmetically, but it was brought up mechanically to better-than-new standards. RESTORATION: Engine was removed and taken down to the block, magnafluxed and rebuilt with no expense spared. The engine showed very little wear and was rebuilt with the same bore and its original “slipper pistons” with new rings, building everything to factory specs. The heads were completely rebuilt, valves miked and ground, seats ground, springs tested, new cam and lifters, heads ported and polished, new harmonic balancer, exhaust manifolds resurfaced, new, larger radiator, all new Delco AC ignition parts, Carter carburetor was rebuilt by Daytona Carb and matched with an electric Carter fuel pump (original fuel pump left on engine for correctness), new 6 blade fan and transmission rebuilt. New battery, shocks, brakes, booster, exhaust, a/c rebuilt ($2,000 cost) 134-A, excellent EZ Eye blue glass, all gauges work, power seat, windows, lights, wipers, heater, the Autronic eye and Wonderbar radio don’t but extra, rebuilt Wonderbar comes with car. There is a working tape player in glove box. Chrome, paint & original interior are beautiful! The car has a little over 2,000 miles on rebuild and is magnificent! Great for show or go.
