Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This 1970 Mulsanne Blue Corvette Convertible left the assembly plant on July 2, 1970 in St. Louis, MO. The heart of the vehicle was the 350/350hp motor through the 2.20 close ratio transmission and 3.70 positraction rear end. A complete body off restoration of this numbers matching vehicle was performed from 2008 to 2010. The car has been driven approximately 2000 miles since completion. The car runs great on pump gas and can been reliably driven anywhere under any conditions, yet is in show quality condition. The paint is base coat/clear coat, is excellent and the layup on the metallic is excellent with no blotching. Just a few hard to find minor defects in the paint. Bright work was polished, re-chromed or replaced. Top frame was totally disassembled, refinished and reassembled with new Knoch top and new weatherstrip. Fresh modern tires but with period looking white letters. Wheels refinished with nice original trim. Original spare with Firestone wide oval tire, F70-15. The engine was fully rebuilt by long time reputable machine shop in NJ, Haledon machine. A factory style LT-1 cam was installed during the rebuild. Transmission and rear end were in excellent operating order before restoration, so were inspected, cleaned and had fluids changed; no leaks. Fuel system was restored with new gas tank, sending unit, lines and rebuilt carburetor. New stainless steel rebuilt brake calipers and related lines replaced. Master cylinder was rebuilt. A new original style welded exhaust system was installed. A complete authentic power steering system was added to the car, comprised of new and rebuilt components; works perfectly, no leaks. The frame was sent out for blasting and powder coating in semi-gloss black finish. Frame is gorgeous. A-frames completely refinished and rebuilt with original style riveted-in ball joints. Trailing arms were rebuilt. Under body panels are natural with no apparent repairs. Tires are fresh and modern radials with period like white letters. Wheels were refinished with very nice original trim. Spare tire carrier is a very nice example and contains the original spare with original Firestone wide oval white letter F70-15 tire.Interior was restored with a mixture of very good original (to the car) and new components. Dash pads and center console are original. Seats were upgraded to black leather, new carpeting was installed and the three door storage compartment was redone. Rear interior trim panels were replaced. Original refinished jack in place. All gauges (including clock), interior lights and even the AM/FM radio are functional. This car has a stunning appearance and draws compliments wherever it goes. You will not be disappointed with the appearance or performance of this fine example of the low production 1970 Corvette L46. The code indicates a 4:11 rear but the car has a 3:70 gear set. We believe it is very possible that this could have been incorrectly stamped from the factory and that it is unlikely a 4 series carrier was completely changed to a 3 series carrier.) Prior to the auction ending on June 19th, we encourage and welcome you or your representative to inspect the vehicle in Mahwah, NJ, 30 miles from downtown NYC. This ebay auction will run to conclusion; please do not ask for a "buy-it-now" price. On Jun-14-11 at 17:18:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Stamp pad.
