These cars are becoming harder and harder to find, especially the turbocharged 5-speed. There is a reason why Volvos climb to 200K or 300K or in this case 389K miles. Its not because they are being towed that distance, its because Volvos are considered one of the most reliable cars on the road. The engine and drive train were built rock solid under the original Swedish design and a search on the internet shows that by how many have this kind of mileage and are still on the road. Unfortunately for me, it is time for me to part with this brick. The car runs very well and gets great gas mileage (about 23-26 to the gallon). The gear box shifts smoothly and the car starts the first time every time. I am the second owner (for 13 years) and have all the records from day one (including the window sticker). The interior is almost flawless and the exterior is only in need of paint. The tires are almost brand new and the front brakes were replaced less than six months ago. This car has had regular oil changes and maintenance and has been my commuter car for all 13 years. The speedometer on this car was replaced at 15,000 miles the first year (in 1986) so although the current reading is 374K miles, it actually has 389K. The A/C needs recharging and the sun roof no longer rolls back (does not leak) but besides that, there are only trivial cosmetic problems with it. The smog check has been completed this week and the car passed with flying colors in all areas. A copy of the smog check will be included in the sale. The registration has also just been paid and is valid in California until June 2012.
