Vehicle Detail
Amazing and exciting describe this car. It will also be a collector car some day because of the limited run at Tesla. It is #309 and is amazing and thrilling to drive. The roadster is great as an every day driver or just for weekends. Many folks take pictures and ask questions about the car. Unfortunately, the car is not practical with kids and I have decided to sell it. The color is amazing, not look at me flashy, but instead is very classy and elegant. The roadster comes with a house charger and a $1,500 mobile connector that was purchased afterwards so you can plug the car into a dryer outlet (about 6 hours to fully charge). Built in passport radar detector, upgraded door sills, and warranty for 4 years or 50,000 from May of 2009 (delivery date). Please feel free to email with any questions. The car is in excellent condition. I would consider a set of tires around 7,000 to 8,000 miles (depending on how you drive) and have priced a pilot sport set at $800. For those not familiar with some of the standard options, it has heated seats, A/C, navigation, blue tooth, CD, satellite radio, bikini top, and tool kit standard. See below for additional options purchased from Tesla. The car has an HOV sticker for California. Also, for California residents, the car was just registered in May so no registration for almost a year. I have set the reserve to sell. This will be a great deal for someone. Exterior Color: Light Blue Interior Color: Black Leather Engine: Electric 248 HP : Transmission Automatic 1 Speed Drive: Two wheel drive rear Brakes: Power disk 4 wheel Wheels: Front 16" Stock alloys Rear 17" Stock alloys Options: Metallic paint $1,000 Solar guard windshield $400 3m film protection $1,495 Carbon fiber hard top $3,200 Electronic group $3,000 Floor mats $150 Premium interior $1,800 Performance tires $850 Forged sport wheels $2,300 Total options $14,195 On Jun-03-11 at 15:07:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received a lot of questions so I thought I provide a summary of the questions and answers below: 1. What is the range - The range is dependent on several factors (charging mode, driving mode, and driver). Charging Mode -You are able to charge the car in three different modes: (i) normal, (ii) max range, and (iii) performance. According to Tesla, they do not recommend charging regular charging in max range or performance mode and it could reduce the battery life. In addition, in any of the three modes there is the ability to select a "Top off" mode that will also increase the range, but again not recommended for normal charging. Driving Mode - There are three modes that you can drive the car and similar to charging modes they are: (i) normal, (ii) max range, and (iii) performance. Normal mode will not access the full battery so the range will be less than max range. In performance mode the car will allow the batteries to get hotter (so i am told) that will have the effect of not reducing performance. Accordint to Tesla, they do not recommend driving the car in max range or performance on a regular basis because it could reduce the battery life. In normal mode, which is fast enough and gives a very good range, the car will show an ideal range of 178 miles (in either max range or performance this is over 200 miles). The estimated normal range is more like 120-140 miles and is dependent on how you drive the car. Driver - if you drive the car hard you will get less miles. In addition, if you are not breaking you will get less miles because of the regenative breaking that makes electricity so you really never need to touch the brakes, the car feels like you are down shifting when you take your foot of the gas, which also makes it exciting to drive. 2. Battery warranty - the battery is covered against defects under the bumper-to-bumper manufacturer's warranty. 3. Drive space - there is suprisingly a lot of leg room such that someone over 6 feet would be comfortable. The difficulty would be getting in and out of the car because of the low profile, but i have found after a couple weeks it is not a problem. 4. Stereo - there is a hard drive. A telephone will connect to the bluetooth, but it is difficult to hear on the highway. There is a plug for an iPod. 5. Does the car need any repairs - not to my knowledge. The only recommended maintenance would be tires and that would be based on how you drive the car and how many miles you put on the car. I suppose a new windshield wiper blade sometime down the line should be considered. 6. Does it have a cup holder - yes, and a very cool one. 7. Is there a heater - yes, works great. 8. How long does it take to remove or install the hard top - about 10 minutes give or take. It is a one person job because every part of the car is made of carbon fiber so the hard top does not weigh much at all. Only the bikini top can be stored in the car. 9. Would i end the auction to sell the car now - yes, the buy it now price would be $81k. The reserve is much lower and the current price is very close to the reserve. 10. How do i get service if I don't live near Tesla- Tesla, will actually come and pick up the car in a covered trailer, service and detail the car, and bring it back to you. On Jun-05-11 at 16:46:05 PDT, seller added the following information: A couple additional questions I have been answering for folks - Charging cables - I have added pictures of the two cables that will come with the car. IMPORTANT to note is that the black cable was purchased two months ago from Tesla for $1,500. This is the cable you need to charge the car completely in 6 hours. This cable is generally not included on any Tesla I have seen for sale as folks are saving it for the Model S. The standard cable that comes with the car (yellow cable) takes 24 hours and is very unreliable because of the power is not continuous at the outlet it will stop charging and I found this to be an issue if something else was plugged in to the outlet or on the circuit. My point is that you will have to buy this cable if you buy a Tesla Roadster, but it is included in the auction. Door sills - not pictured. They were recently upgraded at Tesla for $800. I decided to replace them right after I shot the pictures and have not been able to photograph them. They are half the same metal used throughout the interior to match and significantly reduce scuffing compared to the stock sills. Any other Tesla that has the stock sills will end up looking like the sills in the pictures. This is a great upgrade and I do not have any more pictures I can upload, but happy to email someone a photo of the new sills. Registrations - runs with the car if you live in California. It was just registered in May so you have almost a full year. Another $800 savings. Color - if you go on Tesla's website you can see the color much better than in my photos. On Jun-05-11 at 19:24:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Pictures of the new door sills taken just now from my iPhone - http://s1119.photobucket.com/albums/k630/jedidia13/ Unlike other listings, I am not a professional seller or a car dealer otherwise I would have had the car professional photographed. As you can see the door sills look 100 times better than what was in the car a couple weeks ago.
