Vehicle Detail
H Here is an opportunity you won't soon find again. As far as I know, there are less than 10 BMW C 1 scooters in the USA. I am selling my very rare 2001 BMW C 1 200 with true 2930 kilometers (1820 miles). I bought it in early 2002 while vacationing in Germany as a demonstrator from a BMW dealer in Bavaria. I had it shipped to the United States and titled without any problems in the state of Washington. Insurance with Progressive was no problem at all as a 176 ccm scooter. It costs about 120.-- a year for full coverage. BMW introduced this "Scooter with a roof" in 2000 as an experimental vehicle. It was assembled by Bertone in Italy, the engines came from Rotax in Austria. My scooter has the 176 ccm engine with 17.5 HP and 17 Nm torque. Compression ratio is 11.5 : 1. It has a constant velocity transmission, so no shifting is necessary. Topspeed is 112 km/h ( 70 mph) which makes cruising on freeways effortless. It's also equipped with catalyst and O2 sensor, ABS brakes, heated seat and handle bars. A very nice topcase is also included. I dropped the topcase once, since it was not properly secured which resulted in a few scratches on one side. BMW was combining the mobility of a scooter with the security of a car by outfitting the C 1 with safety belts and a "safety cage". In 2001 and 2002 about 12.600 C 1s were built of which only few were C 1 200s. Most were C 1 125s. BMW stopped the production in Oct. 2002 after only 2 years. My scooter is like new and needs absolutely nothing. It comes with a clear WA title and the registration is good until Dec. 2011. I do not know if it can be registered in the state of California and I can not help with that either. As you can tell from the low kilometers, I hardly use it and it just does not make any sense to keep it as a garage queen. It creates more attention than driving a Ferrari or Maserati and whenever you park it somewhere, people will approach you and ask questions and comment on it. If you want to keep a low profile, this vehicle is definitely not for you.ere is an opportunity you won't soon find again. As far as I know, there are less than 10 BMW C 1 scooters in the USA.
