Greetings . Mom often used to tell me that my eyes were bigger than my stomach when I took portions of food. Perhaps, I am guilty of car projects also..... as I realize this restoration will be a bigger undertaking than I had thought. I am prepared to store the car until I can get to it--- but have also decided to offer it for sale especially given the favorable exchange rate vs the USD. This car came from Texas and was last registered and running in 1979. Generally, most of these early Jensen p1800's are rusted to death and missing most of their rare Jensen specific parts. This car is not missing anything -- and although it has some minor rust in areas-- the seams below the headlights, taillights, and rockers are still present. They are usually bondo'd over by now.The underside has some scale in places-- but the jacking points are very solid. The motor spins freely and the gears all shift easily. The interior may very well be original. What I think makes this car very valuable is most Jensens were either Red or White. Looking on the Volvo1800 registry--- about 15% of the registered p1800's world wide are the more rare grey color code 71 . This car== despite being red currently is actually supposed to be grey / w/ the red interior. At the time, this was a Ferrari color combination-- and Volvo marketed these as a Ferrari alternative for the budget conscience buyer. I have included a grey one I restored a few years ago that ended up in Russia of all places ! Speaking of, I have sold numerous 1800's worldwide and can provide references if needed. The drivers side door opens and closes tightly and with no scraping-- but as the pictures show- it has a good sized dent and the hockey stick is bent as well. The front surround has a dent as well== and the eggcrate needs a couple of rows straightened. The impossible to find Jensen hubcaps are included and have no damage. It probably will not take much to get the car running--- but as nice as this is as a starting point- it deserves a restoration. I woould imagine this would arrive in Europe in time to commence a winter project and complete by Springtime 2012.
