Vehicle Detail

Hi, and thank you for visiting the most important automobile auction of your life-time for an historic 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300 SDL . One of the most sought after diesel cars of the twentieth century. Lets begin: This diesel was a special order vehicle from the dealership with DB 254 green metallic over Palomino leather. It arrived on February 25, 1987 and WOW!, what a stunning color combination. Please let me outline the history of the ownership: A loan was taken out to purchase this automobile and was refinanced and satisfied on January 11, 2001. The owner passed on and the car was held up in probate. It was given to his son on August 8, 2008. The grandson was then given the car. The car was driven on occassion when he was in Florida. It was then purchased by the current owner Robert Holeczy on June 10, 2010, who is an A.S.E. Certified Master Mercedes Benz Technician that has a passion for Mercedes Benz diesel automobiles. He also has a strong restoration history of Mercedes-Benz automobiles from his familiy owned restoration shop. He completely dissassembled the car and began the restoration process. What was restored: Body: The body was completely disassembled. The front and rear winshields were removed. All of body panels and bumpers were removed, carefully inspected and repaired as necessary. The body was completely stripped and repainted to OEM MERCEDES, NACHTGREEN, DB254 specifications (this car was never in an accident!). Absolutely no rust Interior: The interior was completely removed. All seats were dissassembled and rebuilt as new in MB TEX rather than leather which does not fair well in the Florida climate. The seat frames, the horsehair and the coverings were all replaced or remanufactured (when you sit in this car it is like brand new). The interior was then reassembled as per manufacturer specifications. Mechanics: The engine and transmission were removed and inspected. The transmission was professionally rebuilt with the purchase of a new torque converter .The engine was replaced with a brand new Mercedes Benz complete crate engine when the mileage was 155244 . The complete engine assembly was only available to Mercedes Benz dealerhips or VPC (vehicle preparation centers), or as an overstocked item within the confines of the dealership. The engine was purchased by a family member who worked for Mercedes Benz and then sold to the current owner. A complete engine assembly from Merceds Benz at that time consisted of the following: Long block with intake and exhaust manifolds, valve cover, power stearing, alternator and a/c compressor, starter motor, injection pump, lines and injectors and ring gear, water pump, fan and fan clutch complete. All brand new (not remanufactured or rebuilt) according to chasis number. It didn't stop there. The radiator was replaced to ensure proper cooling. The trans coolant lines were replaced, the engine coolant lines wer replaced. The intercooler was removed, inspected and cleaned. All coolant hoses were replaced. The motor and trans mounts were replaced. Serp belt and necessary vacuum lines were inspected or replaced. The front end: The front end was completely disassembled. All bushings and ball joints were inspected or replaced as necessary and then cleaned and assembled. The brake system: All four rotors, pads, brake line and calipers were removed for inspection. The brake calipers were rebuilt adding new brake lines. The rotors, pads and sensors were replaced with the repacking of the front wheel bearings. The differential: The differential was drained of all of the fluid. The rear cover was removed, inspected and reinstalled in good order. The rear axle half joints were inspected and in good order. I am listing this car for my good friend Robert Holeczy. Please contact him with any questions @ 941-915-1383. Please note this is not a dealership or an independent wholesale car lot. All questions will be answered. This vehicle is sold in as is condition with no warrenties implied. Please feel free to come and view this magnificent car. Thanx, Uwe
