Vehicle Detail
Welcome to my No Reserve auction. I'm offering a 1984 Mercedes 300TDT Turbo Diesel Wagon. Please read this description fully and carefully before bidding. The engine and transmission work well. It starts quickly. It shuts off fine. The suspension and brakes feel solid. I shampooed the interior carpets 5/19. For fans of using used Veg. oil, here's a great video from a trusted souce for vintage Mercedes owners. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/mercedessource#p/a/u/2/9L5RMc3ZslQ I'm a huge fan of this site; Mercedessource.com They offer parts kits, YouTube repair videos, and guidance on repair. The Title is signed over to me, and should you reside in a State requiring a Title, I would process the Title with the Massachusetts Registry upon winning bid/payment. This paperwork process may take 2-4 weeks total time. I would overnight express mail the new Title to you. You can pick up the car upon payment. Should you live in a State that doesn't require a Title, then I would give you the Title that I have, with a Bill of Sale (only). The previous owner owned it from 2005 till a few months ago, and put only 4.5K miles per year averaged out. My plans have changed, so I'm selling now. I've owned many Mercedes diesels, and currently own a 1983 300CD Turbo Diesel. These cars are amazing as you know. When I purchased the Wagon, I brought it to a Mercedes specialist nearby, and had the oil/oil filter changed as well as adjusted the valves ($237 total). The interior of the car is nice, and I was nicely surprised to look under the rear seats and not find any kids cookies, gunk, etc. Whoever owned this car before me treated it well and kept it very clean. It's a non-smoker/non-pet car as far as I can tell. The car looks level when parked, which implies the rear suspension system is working. All glass is origional and without cracks, hazing. Note patch from previous owner on driver side rear below window. All Painted surfaces are good, and with a good compounding/wax/buff, can be very good. The roof is sun faded and dull. There's a small amout of oil leaking from the engine (perhaps gaskets need replacing?) The Turbo sounds fine, and it accelerates well. I don't know the last time it was tuned up. The sunroof has been taped shut, and the front pass. blinker lens is taped on. There's a small dent in the pass. side of the grill. The backup lights work. All windows go up/down except the rear pass. side. The hood spring on the drivers side seems crooked, however it does still work and opens ok. The hood release works. I'm including a used pass. side blinker lens in this auction, should it be needed/appreciated. There are no water stains on the inside of the roof liner, so I'm not sure why the sunroof was taped shut. Since it's a manual open/close, it might need a rubber seal/gasket. There's no spare tire included, however I'm including a steel rim for use as a spare. The front tires match and the rear tires are a match as well. The sound system is a after-market Pioneer disk player. It works fine, and the custom rear mounted speakers work well. There's rust primarily around the passenger front wheel which should require welding and overall body work to pass inspection. Also there's areas that should be patched, including the drivers door exterior and area at the spare tire exterior and interior area. Please see photos. In person inspection is welcomed and encouraged. The speedometer unit looks like it was removed/adjusted and is now not quite flush to the dash. I believe it is the original unit to the car. The locks work, implying that the vacuum system is operating. The blower blows warm air (no anti-freeze smell) regardless of hot/cold setting. The A/C is untested. All seats move forward and back fine. I lubed the channels. I cleared the water drains within the firewall, however there is a small amount of water that gets into the rear passenger floor. The rear wiper and fluid isn't working (fuse or ??). In conclusion, this is a good solid wagon, requiring ususall Diesel tinkering and the knowledge (or someone who knows) how to weld and overall paint/body work. I really want this car to go to a good home. Educated questions are welcome. I'm sure I will add comments before the end of auction. Do not bid unless you have a the approved funding and the passion to tinker/adjust/repair a car of this vintage age. Happy Bidding!
