Vehicle Detail
This is a no reserve auction for a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI turbo-diesel VIN 3VWSP29M91M051675 purchased new on 11/3/2000. It has a 5spd manual transmission, the Monsoon Sound System, sunroof, auto-up/down front windows, fold-down rear seats, a huge trunk, heated front (cloth) seats and side mirrors, and new (9k miles, with warranty) Michelin Hydro-Edge tires. It has 218,714 miles on it, and over the course of those mostly-highway miles the car has averaged 50mpg. It still has the original clutch, which is starting to chatter a little. The interior is dirty, and it was smoked in regularly. The car was meticulously maintained with regard to oil changes and regular service, and was always garage-kept. There is no body or structural rust. I have an Excel file that details ALL maintenance, fuel mileage, daily and annual operating costs, original purchase price, and a host of other gee-whiz data that I’ll be happy to provide to anyone who is interested. The specific negative issues for the car are depicted in the photos and are: There is a break in the rear bumper plastic where I backed into it with a truck hitch. The plastic front bumper has become unclipped from the front fender on the right side. The radio antenna is broken. The ‘Check Engine’ light is on due to a glow plug fault on one of the cylinders, which does not effect operation and is a common issue with these cars. The glove compartment door latch handle is broken (no photo for this). However, it is still operable if one knows how to manually release the latch. Both side mirrors, which folded back once upon a time, are lashed on with nylon string due to being inadvertently folded forward while backing out of two different garages. Included with the car: Service and owner’s manuals, an extra fuel filter, two remote-keys and a valet key. With the exception of some bad diesel clogging the fuel filter, this car has been one of the most reliable, fun-to-drive, and certainly the most economical I’ve ever owned. It’s acceleration is as good as or better than any 4-cylinder gas car I’ve owned, and it will drive at sustained speeds of over 90 mph without breaking a sweat and get 42 mpg doing it. I have gotten as high as 58mpg, or 772 miles on one tank of diesel. The winning bidder must make arrangements to pick up the car in west central Indiana within 10 days. Preferred payment is cash, although a cashier’s check will be acceptable if presented at a bank for verification. No warranty, other than for the tires, is expressed or implied for the car or its associated equipment. The maintenance record is specific and accurate. Thanks for viewing my listing. Good luck bidding. On May-15-11 at 00:11:18 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a no reserve auction for a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI turbo-diesel VIN 3VWSP29M91M051675 purchased new on 11/3/2000.
