DESCRIPTION: I FEEL THIS BIKE TO BE VERY RESTORABLE, IN FACT, THAT WAS THE LAST OWNER'S INTENTION. IT HAS MANY RUSTY PARTS BUT THEY ARE FAIRLY COMMON PARTS FOUND ON MANY OTHER HONDAS. THIS BIKE IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL! THIS WAS A VERY POPULAR CAFE RACER IN IT'S DAY AND THERE ARE STILL CAFE RACER FRAMES AVAILABLE FOR THIS BIKE. A VERY POPULAR CAFE RACER FRAME WAS THE TT 450 FRAME WHICH HAS A VERY COOL SPLIT DESIGN, MAKING IT EASIER TO TUNE AT RACES. MOTOR: THE MOTOR WILL NEED THE TOP END TOTALLY REBUILT AND THE CAM JOURNALS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN THE BIKE WAS BROUGHT TO THE SHOP, IT WAS STARTED BUT SOUNDED AWFUL. IT WAS SHUT DOWN AND NOT DRIVEN, TO PREVENT ANY FURTHER DAMAGE. "WHEN IT WAS RAN LAST, IT SOUNDED LIKE A HERD OF MICE WERE RUNNING AROUND IN THERE", SAID MY MECHANIC BUDDY. SWAP THE TOP END OR REPAIR IT YOURSELF, YOUR CALL. PIPES: THE LEFT SIDE PIPE LOOKS TO BE RUSTIER THAN THE RIGHT SIDE, NO ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO CLEAN UP THE PIPES WITH STEEL WOOL OR NAVAL JELLY. THERE ARE NO HOLES IN THE PIPES AND I TRIED TO SHOW THE CONDITION AS BEST I COULD IN THE PICTURES. THERE ARE SOME SMALL DENTS AND MAYBE A LITTLE SCRAPAGE ON THE THE LEFT PIPE. BASICALLY, THESE PIPES ARE OK. THEY MAY CLEAN UP QUITE A BIT BUT I DON'T THINK YOU'LL GET THEM PERFECT. AGAIN, THESE PIPES CAN BE FOUND ON EBAY FAIRLY OFTEN. ODDLY, THE HEADERS ARE IN BETTER SHAPE THAN THE MUFFLERS. FRAME: THE FRAME IS STRAIGHT WITH NO RUST ROT, ONLY SOME SURFACE RUST. IF YOU'RE DOING A FULL RESTORATION, IT WILL STRIP EASILY FOR POWDER COATING. TURN SIGNALS & TAIL LIGHT: ALL THE LENSES ON ALL 4 TURN SIGNALS ARE WITHOUT CRACKS AND IN REAL NICE SHAPE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CHROME ON THE BODY OF THE SIGNALS ARE NOT IN GREAT SHAPE. THEY ARE OXIDIZED, BUT ARE EASILY FOUND ON EBAY. THE TAIL LIGHT PLASTIC IS IN GOOD SHAPE WITH NO CRACKS. THE METAL HOLDING IT TO THE FRAME HAS SOME SURFACE RUST BUT IS EASILY RESTORABLE. TANK, SEAT, & SIDE COVERS: THE TANK IS IN GREAT SHAPE FOR BEING 29 YEARS OLD. HOWEVER, THERE IS A 2 INCH DENT ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TANK, REFER TO THE PICTURES PLEASE. IT MAY BE ABLE TO BE HEATED AND POPPED OUT BUT THIS WILL EFFECT THE PAINT. THE PAINT IS IN OK SHAPE BUT THE CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF SO IT WILL NEED A NEW COAT. THE INSIDE HAS A LITTLE SURFACE RUST ON THE THE CENTER BELOW THE OPENING, BUT THE WALLS ARE CLEAN. IT WOULD TAKE VERY LITTLE EFFORT TO USE SOME ACID TO CLEAN THIS UP. THE BIKE HAS BEEN WITH OUT GAS FOR A BIT, SO THIS IS COMMON. IT ALSO HAS NO PET COCK. THE SIDE COVERS ARE COMPLETE WITH ALL BADGES BUT COULD USE REPAINTING. THESE SELL FOR $45 PER SIDE WITHOUT THE DOHC BADGES HERE ON EBAY! THE SEAT IS IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NO RIPS OR SEAM SPLITTING. A VERY NICE STOCK SEAT! TIRES & RIMS: THESE TIRES WERE THE ONLY STEP TOWARDS RESTORATION BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THEY'RE NEW, JUST DUSTY AND DIRTY FROM THE BIKE BEING ROLLED AROUND THE SHOP. I WILL CALL THEM 99% TREAD BECAUSE THEY'RE A LITTLE DIRTY BUT THEY'RE REALLY 100% TREAD. THE CHROME RIMS ARE A LITTLE RUSTY AS WELL AS SOME OF THE SPOKES. KEEP IN MIND, NO NAVAL JELLY OR STEEL WOOL HAS BEEN USED ON THIS BIKE. THE ALUMINUM HUBS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, THE BEARINGS ARE GOOD AND ROLL SMOOTHLY. SPEEDO/ TACH: BOTH ARE IN GOOD SHAPE AND THE TRIPOMETER WORKS AND RESETS. I CANNOT PROMISE THE TACH AND SPEEDO WORK BUT THE ARE IN THE CONDITION THAT APPEARS THEY WOULD. THE BAD: LIKE A SAID BEFORE, SOME OF THE CHROME IS CORRODED(IE. THE MIRRORS, SIGNAL HOUSING AND MISC.) ALSO, THERE'S RUSTY NUTS, BOLTS, AND MISC. PARTS. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT MOST ALL GASKETS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE FORK SEALS LOOK LIKE THEY MIGHT NEED REPLACED, HOWEVER, THEY'RE NOT LEAKING. THE END OF THE CLUTCH HANDLE (BALL TIP) HAS BEEN BROKEN OFF. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE BIKE HAS BEEN DROPPED AT SOME POINT. OTHER THAN THE TANK, THIS APPEARS TO BE THE ONLY DAMAGE THAT I CAN SEE. AS I MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY, THE LEFT PIPE MAY BE A LITTLE SCRAPED UP. LASTLY, YOU WILL NEED A BATTERY.
