Vehicle Detail
We have for sale our 1964 Valiant convertible. It is a signet 200 with a 318 V8 in it. We just do not use it alot anymore and are wanting to get started on the next project so this one needs to go. ENGINE: The engine is a newer 318. When we bought it the engine had 5,000 miles on a rebuild. We have put on maybe another 1000 miles. So on the rebuild there might be around 6,000 miles. The engine runs strong and I have not had any troubles with it leaking any fluids. A couple years ago I had a local motor head install an aftermarket 4 barrel intake on it. On top of that he installed a Holley 4 barrel carb, I believe it was a 650 but would have to go and check. At the same time the heads were replaced with ones off of a mid 80s cop car, they were machined and checked before installation. A little bigger cam was also installed. The first time out of the garage every year the Holley is a little tepermental, but once it is warmed up she is ready to run. TRANS: This engine is hooked to a pushbutton auto tranny. I have never had any trouble with this tranny. The seal around the shift mechanism leaks a little bit. other than that it has been a good tranny. Shifts pretty smooth for a car of its age. RADIATOR: When I had the engine work all done I wanted to make sure that it was going to stay cool under the hood. I had a local radiator shop build me a custom radiator. He kept it the same size outside but made it thicker. Basically he said it is a truck radiator shrunk down to fit the opening. ($800 spent on this ) BODY: The body on this car was restored roughly 12 years ago. The bodywork all looks good yet but I will admit the paint job could have been a little better. There are some blemishes if you look close enough. This is a 20/60 car though. At 20 feet or 60 miles/hour this car look GREAT. I am not a guy to take my car to a car show, but if you want this car to win your car show you will need a new paint job. If you are looking for a fun car for this summer drive it like it is. We did and loved it. INTERIOR: The interior was redone at the same time as the restoration. The interior has held up REAL well. The door handles on the door were recovered, but have not been installed. They will come with the car. Minor touchups on the painted surfaces could be done, but agian if you are looking for a fun car this summer drive it like it is. The top itself has was redone about 5 years ago and looks like new. ELECTRICAL: Everything electrical in the car is in working order. We did have some trouble with one of the tail lights last year, but I got it repaired before we headed out on our 350 mile journey with the car. The car has a CD player in the dash, I myself would have installed it a little differently, but it was there when I got the car. The electrical top mechanism is in working order. Just unhook the latches and turn the knob, it will be open in a matter of seconds. EXHAUST: The car had new dual exhaust put on it at the time of restoration. Lat time I looked under the car it still looked brand new. I have not had any exhaust leaks. Well I guess I ran out of items to list. If you have any other additional questions just ask away. I answer all of them to the best of my ability. PARTS CAR: Now along with this car comes a 1964 Valiant Signet PARTS CAR. This one is in pretty rough shape, but like I was told "If you need a fender later a rusty one will be better than not having one." Everyone knows these cars a little tough to find so a parts car sitting in the trees might not be a bad idea. As mentioned we are selling it to get on with the next project. I am starting restoration on my Mom and Dads forst car, a 1956 Plymouth Savoy 2 dr. This convertible needs to get sold to help with restoration costs on the Savoy. So bid high and bid often. This Valiant is a fun car to drive, we would not be selling it if we did not want this other restoration done. It would not bother me at all to jump in the Valiant and drive it anywhere. Check the fluids and go. Any questions please ask. I have it for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Thanks On Mar-06-11 at 14:02:15 PST, seller added the following information: For more pictures click on this link. You should be able to see the engine and the rest of the body. http://s285.photobucket.com/albums/ll79/dvorak2/Valiant%20Part/ On Mar-11-11 at 08:04:57 PST, seller added the following information: I wanted to add some information on the parts car. As far as I know it is a complete car. It does come with a slant 6 engine that is loose and should be in working order. It also comes with a manual tranny that was rebuilt and never installed in a car. I do have a title for it as well. The bidding is getting real close to the reserve price on this car. If there are any additional questions let me know. This is a fun car and needs to go to someone who can use it more than we have been. Thanks
