Vehicle Detail
1958 red Austin Healey BN6 two seater roadster 100/6. VIN is BN6L1668. Engine is 26D/R/H65505. Sideshift transmission with overdrive. I bought this car in 2003 near Atlanta. It has sat in my garage ever since. It needs total restoration, brake work, etc. It will have to be trailered or trucked. The gauges and switches are in the dash. Side curtains and bumpers are included. The headlight buckets and seats are missing. I include a box of insignia and odds and ends. The frame itself seems solid (or I would not have bought it as a car that I had planned to keep.) The rust is mostly in the usual big Healey rust areas, e.g., floors, sills, outer body panels, door bottoms, and bottom of trunk and trunk lid, etc. The bonnet (hood) also has some rust, but if you want it, I will include another bonnet (but without the center crease.) The buyer from whom I purchased the car in 2003 said that before he got it, the car had sat for seventeen years in the garage of an owner who had hoped to restore it. He said that prior to 1986, it had been in Louisiana where it was not garaged. Actual mileage is unknown. Included are a new black Amco two seater top in its box, a new black carpet set in its box, and a black Monza exhaust system (muffler and rear dual pipes). I have ten British cars. I have not found the time to devote to this potential gem. I am now retired and am trying to sort through past acquisitions to arrive at a more manageable level of hoarding! I don’t have room in the garages to work on what I do have. (The next up for sale with be a white 1969 MGB GT with wire wheels and a dark blue 1974 MGB convertible with wire wheels and an almost new top.) Clear Virginia title is in my name, ready to sign over to buyer. All done as Virginia DMV requires. No short cuts. AS IS, where is. No warranties, express or implied. Please examine the car and ask questions before you bid, not after. Shipment is buyer’s responsibility and expense. I will make car available to shipper at my home. PayPal for deposit. Balance by cash or cleared check (car available for shipment after four business days of your check’s deposit to my bank). I will store the car up to thirty days from auction’s end. Make arrangements with me before you bid if you will need longer than thirty days to pick up the car. This is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this auction early. Email me via eBay with any questions or with requests for pictures of specific areas that I can email directly to you. On Apr-29-11 at 13:10:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I did a compression test this morning. In psi starting with cylinder #1, compression readings are as follow: 18, 122, 57, 115, 123,121. Engine turns over well, but I haven't gotten it started yet. I took parts out of car floor, so if you send me your email address, I can email you more pictures of holes in floor boards. Overdrive serial number is 28/1447/010484. Gearbox number down side of dipstick housing is hard to read but it looks like B916 then a 5 or 6, then something that is faint and looks like a C but may be nothing because I would expect a number. Round seal on top of gearbox says Type BN4. Casting number on side of gearbox is AEC3174.
