Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1966 PONTIAC GTO NO RESERVE AUCTION - almost unheard of on eBay these days. Beautiful red 1966 GTO. This is a true GTO (242 VIN code) and it’s looking for a new owner. Non original 400 motor runs strong and is linked to a 4 speed transmission with Hurst shifter. The car is power steering and power brake equipped. All chrome is good to excellent. Interior is in excellent condition with an aftermarket Kenwood/CD player stereo. Glass is in very good condition. Michelin tires on all black Rally II wheels look great. I bought it as a driver and I wanted power steering and power brakes but a manual transmission. If you ask me – this is the best combination! This is a great car to cruise in and get lots of looks and thumbs up! Engine has chrome bits such as air cleaner, alternator, thermostat housing, oil pan and Edelbrock valve covers. Performance upgrades include Edelbrock aluminum manifold, mild cam and Holley carburetor. I recently put in an aluminum radiator to prevent overheating (it never overheated on me but gets hot here in Phoenix) so I could rely on the car whether I was driving to work or to the car shows (I will include the original radiator). Recent front end work and new shocks. Too many new parts to list, I have a stack of receipts. Known discrepancies are: fan blower doesn’t work (on any speed), speedo doesn’t work and reverse lights don’t work. Plus it’s been sitting and could use a tune up or maybe just a long drive down the interstate. This isn’t an all inclusive list and I have a new blower motor and the original radiator that goes with the car. The car drives fine and there should be no issue driving long distance. Clear AZ title in hand. The body work is an older restoration which makes it a perfect daily driver. It shows some signs of its age and some substandard body work, there is some filler cracking, but from 10 feet away, it looks great. Don't let the frank description scare you - I am trying to be as detailed as possible (look at my feedback score), this car looks and runs great. You wont be afraid to drive it and park it somewhere. The exterior would rate a 6 out of 10 and the interior a 7.5 out of 10. I am selling because I have a new baby and have no time to enjoy, tinker and drive this car. I know its value will continue to go up but I really can’t justify keeping it with all the baby bills coming in. If you’re looking for a numbers matching, all original sheet metal/no rust show car, this isn’t it. Use your back button now and look at the GTO’s from $35K to $50K and you’ll find one. I started this auction VERY LOW. Why spend $10K or more on something that needs restoration or isn’t even a real GTO? THIS is the car for YOU! Click on the "view all" button below, next to the photobucket slide show, if you want to see the full size pictures. LOOK AT MY FEEDBACK. Over 500, all positive feedback! Read these terms carefully…. This is a NO RESERVE auction, if you want to buy this car feel free to bid. I WILL NOT stop the auction early so you can buy it now – it’s worth a lot more than the starting price. The auction will run its course and the market will decide its real value (my guess is around $20K) but whatever the price is at auction end is what it will sell for.
