Vehicle Detail

I sell to the U.S. and Canada only. Please do not bid if you do not have an address within these countries. Up for auction is a 1966 standard Impala 2dr ht, marina blue, with a mint condition black vinyl bench seat interior. It has a 325hp 396, with a turbo 400 trans, original 12 bolt open rear end, and dual exhaust, with aluminized pipes. This is an original, uncut, numbers match car, with 21,000 original miles, which I’m convinced is correct, judging by the overall condition, including the interior, and the underside of the car. It was built at the Norwood, Ohio GM Plant on February 22nd, 1966, making it among the last of the full size Chevys produced at that plant. I have the original invoice for the car, which was bought July 20, 1966 in Mocksville, North Carolina. Options are: black vinyl trim, dual exhaust, push button radio, tinted windshield, full wheel covers, front and rear bumper guards, power steering, 8.25 x 14 whitewall tires, and the 396 and turbo 400. I also have the original owner’s manual, accessory manual, Protecto-plate (in the original plastic envelope), keys (one set with original knock-outs) and a leather key case from the selling dealer. The original spare tire and jack are in the trunk. It has the original wheels, and there are 6 original full wheel covers that go with the car. The tires are 11 years old, and are unreliable to operate on the road. It is the buyer’s responsibility to tow or trailer the car, or bring reliable tires and wheels, to drive it home. I bought it in June of 1993, from the elderly widow of the original owner, in Winston Salem, North Carolina. The original owner, who was in his late 70's, had died in 1987. He bought it new, and used the car for daily transportation, pretty much driving it locally around his home area. I am the third registered owner, due to the owner’s widow re-titling it her name, after her husband’s death. It still has a 1994 North Carolina inspection sticker in the windshield, and the original factory crayon marks on firewall, indicating the original paint color and code. I drove it occasionally for a couple of months, and then put it in storage, until I could get the time to restore it. Unfortunately, I never got around to doing it. It's a super nice car, with original floors, trunk and sheet-metal. There is a minor rust spot at the bottom of the left fender, and the weather-strips and rubber parts need to be replaced. Included with the car, but not installed, is an N.O.S. left fender and new weather-strips and rubber parts. There is some rust at the bottom of the windshield, which I have cleaned up and painted with a rust converting paint to keep it from rusting further, and I have re-sealed the bottom of the windshield. The cowl has some small rust holes into the outer plenum area, which have been closed up by the windshield sealer, but is not rusted through into the passenger compartment. The windshield sealer became detached in the same area, and there is some minor rust at the front of the dash panel. The windshield will have to be removed to properly repair this area. The body has some small dents, and due to age, and the car needs to be painted. The car has had a very light left front end hit at some time. The upper and lower grilles have been replaced, and are riveted in with pop rivets. There is no frame or cowl damage, and the original left fender was straightened. The quarters, floors, trunk floor, and rockers are excellent, and need no metal work. The trunk, hood and doors are excellent. The floor pans still had original paint on them, and had only a few small areas of surface rust. A significant amount of detail work has been done under the hood, and under the car. The bottom of the car has been cleaned and painted, including the floors, frame, suspension, and gas tank. I have cleaned and re-wrapped the engine compartment wire harnesses as needed, with original type harness wrap, and the asphalt coated fabric covers for the temperature sending unit wires and trans kick down wire have been replaced. Some would call this a restoration. I would describe it as a nice, thorough, detail job, about as good as you can get, without taking the car apart. The undercarriage and suspension were painted with correct satin black GM reconditioning paint. The following is a list of repairs and new parts: New: water pump thermostat radiator hoses heater hoses heater core by-pass hose Whittek tower type radiator hose clamps Corbin style heater hose clamps Delco radiator cap alternator and P/S belts NOS A/C 43N spark plugs choke pull-off GM choke thermostat cover AC/Delco points, condenser, plug wires, and distributor cap AC/Delco vacuum advance air filter A/C Delco fuel pump valve seals valve cover gaskets (orig style silver cork gskts) wheel cylinders master cylinder front and rear brake hoses front and rear & brake shoes new rear brake drums trans filter, gasket & fluid vacuum modulator transmission mount upper & lower ball joints front upper control arm bushings front sway bar bushings & end links Gabriel gas shocks (front & rear) rear springs strut rod bushings timing cover seal upper front control arm dust seals (flaps) Trico wiper blade refills battery, with reproduction, correct appearing, battery topper reproduction spring ring battery cables reproduction trunk mat reproduction original style floor mats transmission cooler lines halogen headlights package shelf and jute pad reproduction inner glove box reproduction antenna mast reproduction W/S washer reservoir front end alignment Valvoline synthetic blend oil & N.O.S. In addition to the original accessories, I have added seat belt retractors and a day/night rear view mirror. All of the replaced original parts have been retained to assist with a numbers match restoration, if desired. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding. I have included what I believe is a good, accurate array of photos in the listing. This car is a super straight-up survivor, worthy of a body off restoration, or can be painted and have the rubber parts replaced, and be an extremely nice street cruiser. There aren’t many left out there that are this nice. I’ve set a very reasonable reserve on this car, considering the condition, low mileage, originality, repairs, parts used on, and included with the car, and the detail work done on it. The value of the parts and material is about $5,000. I’ve figured nothing for my labor. A deposit of $500 is due via PayPal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The balance will be due upon pick up of the car, in cash verified at a local bank, or by wire transfer, prior to pick up. Sorry no personal checks, or cashier’s checks. I’ve had problems with an attempted purchase using counterfeit cash, and I’m personally aware of scams involving counterfeit checks, drawn on good accounts, with sufficient funds. These checks initially clear, but are later re-debited to the seller’s account, after the document is determined to be counterfeit. Pick up and transportation of the car are the buyer’s responsibility, and must be done within 14 days from the close of auction, unless I am contacted, and agree to other arrangements. If the 14 day time frame is a problem for you, I’ll work with you, within reason, on that issue. I have a high personal expectation of what is good, excellent, or mint condition, and will always attempt to provide an accurate description, and clear photos. If any items in my auctions do not meet your expectations, please contact me before leaving feedback, so that I can attempt to resolve any issues. Thanks for looking at my auction, and bid with confidence.
