Vehicle Detail
1974 Porsche 914 Electric Vehicle for sale. It was converted in 2008 by an engineer and college professor in Georgia using the AC Volts Porsche kit from Electro Automotive. The car has a range of 125 miles (Advertised by Electo Auto, I’ve driven it up to 102 miles)under optimal conditions (A1A driving). It can go highway speeds and drives just like a normal car. Haven't been able to go over 70mph though, and at speeds it eats amps/halves range. Acceleration is modest and it keeps up with traffic. It has fresh batteries installed September 2010 (18 US Battery 8VGCHC with small L posts, 183 amp-hr) covered under warranty. The motor is an Azure Dynamics/Solectria AC24 3-Phase AC Azure Dynamics AC24 motor is bolted to factory 5 speed through a stock clutch and a very nice Electro Automotive adapter. The motor is controlled by Azure Dynamics/Solectria DMOC 445 three phase inverter with computer functions that take care of everything. You can connect your laptop and adjust the parameters if you’d like. The AC system has 144 volts and includes regenerative braking which increases range and efficiency. This is the same system that MIT has for the EV development team. Maintenance consists of checking the batteries monthly and occasionally adding oil to the transmission (forget about spark plugs and oil changes!) There are a few scratches in the paint and normal wear on the roof. The transmission is fine as long as you keep the gear oil topped off. The tires are new, the stereo works fine (Sony CD player). The car can be plugged up into any 15 amp wall outlet. It takes time to charge (up to 8 hours from empty to full) and costs about 2 cents per mile to drive. Very cheap! You can read more about the car here: http://evalbum.com/1753 or see a movie here: http://videos.stltoday.com/p/video?id=2437759 I'm selling the car because my commute has gotten greater and I don't like driving the car on I 95 as the car is very small and the drivers in South Florida are insane. I've put about 2,000 miles on it and am pleased with the performance. Please contact me if you have any questions.
