Picked up this car a few weeks ago and may be in over my head.It’s a 1972 Plymouth satellite 4 door . Has a 318 V8 with auto. Needs some body work and paint the inside was started but never finished.There is a dent on the rear bumper also there are 4 dent on the car one on each fender the door and the top has a small dent that needs to be popped out nothing to nasty. Took it to a mechanic he told me she was good just needs a block manifold for a ticking and the trans pan gasket he told me is “wet” and should be changed. He also told me the car needs to have the suspension greased and font tires and an alignment done. The inside is ok needs the front seats need to be mounted with brackets(don’t slide just bolted in now) and headliner done. The rear seat has a cover but the unders need to be redone. All the gauges work lights as well , has cd player. My friend who dose cars kind of popped the bubble. Told me I did not get ripped off and the car is not all hacked up, just more or less missing the org. front bench. He also told if I cant do the work and don’t want to learn to sell the car because it will become to expensive to pay people to fix everything. In short it was put to me like “if its not a hobby its just a money pit.I drive it around town but would not drive to far have the pink slip from last owner bill of sale and DMV transfer paperwork from me to new owner. ”. He explained that the car has a viable crack on the drivers manifold and the car has straight pipe out the back also said the mounting of the linkage could use some attention. He told me that summit has a exhaust kit header back for $200 and headers for $130 easy way to fix the problem. Has edelbrock aluminum manifold and 4 bbl carb. The distributor is new and has no pints and a MSD coil.Looks to have new wires and plugs.He went over the paper work and said that all the fees are paid till 12/2011 and all the car need is a vin vitrification by the dmv but car has temp tag for now.
