Vehicle Detail

For your consideration is this beautiful Champagne Metallic BMW R1200c "Montauk" cruiser, the final -- and best -- member of BMW's R1200c cruiser line. BMW built about 40,000 regular cruisers, but only about 400 Montauks. A rare and attractive daily driver, the Montauk is built on the familiar BMW cruiser platform, using the larger wheels and tires (150/80-16 front and 170/80-15 rear) from the 1200 CL touring cruiser, and (in my opinion) it has much nicer styling than either the CL or a regular R1200C. The Montauk's rarity and uniqueness makes it fun to own and a much better investment than other bikes of this type. Montauks don't come up for sale that often, and when they do, they often do not include the rare and expensive optional BMW factory hard luggage. But this bike does (check the pix). These make cruising easy and fun; just throw stuff in the bags and take off. A single key fits both the ignition and the bags. The Montauk was built to celebrate the wildlly successful and radically cool BMW cruiser line. They haven't had a real cruiser since then, just huge bikes that are more like Gold Wings. The Montauk is a totally different experience, both visually, and the way it drives. It's no sports bike, of course, but it's not a tank either. It feels great at speed, rock-solid, stable, safe (ABS Brakes) and is very comfortable besides (the suspension is adjustable, super-soft to rock-hard). On the Montauk, the legs of the BMW Telelever front suspension were widened and the Monolever rear suspension was configured to make room for the new, larger wheels. The side panels are also a new shape. Up front, the large, round headlight has a smaller driving/fog light stacked just below it; looks great and works great at night. A very effective windscreen wraps around the lights and the Montauk's fantastic instrument pod. The instrument panel is leagues ahead of the regular cruiser, a real pleasure, with a beautiful big tachometer, an elegant and accurate analog clock, plus some handy digital controls and readouts. See photos. A high handlebar with risers is used along with dual-temperature heated grips, and it comes with the desirable combo real passenger/fold-up backrest seating arrangement. The Montauk has an ultra-reliable dual-spark ignition, five-speed gearbox, and EVO (ABS) power braking system. BMW claims the two-spark ignition system provides a 5% improvement in fuel mileage, better engine response and reduced emissions compared with ordinary cruisers. This bike's beautiful, never been down, never been messed with. It just had its 6,000 mile service, needs nothing whatsoever, and is ready to drive away. Check the photos to see how nice it is, and feel free to e-mail me with any questions. Check my 100% positive feedback score. Thanks!
