Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 2000 Cadillac Sedan DeVille DHS four-door sedan with less than 197,000 miles on it. As of the date of listing, the actual mileage is 196,388. This car has been my daily driver since I purchased it in March 2007. It has never left me stranded and has taken me safely on trips throughout the southeastern United States. I take about a dozen trips from Knoxville to Atlanta and another handful every year from Knoxville to Memphis. The car is primarily driven at highway speeds and is very rarely in stop and go traffic. My daily commute is about 10 highway miles each way and has no traffic to speak of. The car is garage kept in the evenings. I am a non-smoker and have not let anyone else smoke in my car. I don't have any kids so the back seat isn't destroyed or caked with sticky stuff. I believe I am the third owner. I purchased this car from a Cadillac wholesaler in Fort Lauderdale, Florida who got it from a commercial automobile auction. I believe the car came from New York, originally. When I purchased the car, I paid a little more than $ 9,000.00 for it. This Cadillac is front-wheel drive and features the Northstar Engine with an automatic transmission. I have always used 5W-30 motor oil, as recommended by General Motors. The crankcase holds 8 quarts and I have the oil changed every 5,000 miles. The oil is usually changed at Fisher Tire Company in North Knoxville. At the same time the oil is changed the tires are balanced and rotated. On September 20, 2010 I purchased a matched set of four Uniroyal Tiger Paw Radial touring tires at a cost of $ 105.88 each. They are size 235/55R17. The car had 174,617 miles when I purchased the tires. At the time, the service man (Bobby Fisher) told me the brakes had at least 50% remaining on the front and rear. The tires are filled with Nitrogen. This Cadillac has always served me well. I am selling it because I recently got a good deal on another car and I don't need two cars. This Cadillac has so many features, I'm sure I won't include everything here, but here goes: It has air conditioning with dual climate control settings and separate rear seat settings, front and rear heated seats (the driver's seat will also "massage" you), power mirrors, four power windows that roll completely down with a press of a switch, rear window screens that can be retracted and a back window screen that rolls up or down at the touch of a button, power door locks, leather seats, power mirrors (on both sides) power adjustable driver's and passenger seats (the driver's seat has two (2) memory settings), a factory CD player (made by Bose) with steering wheel mounted controls and a six-disc changer that can be found in the glove compartment, driver and passenger side airbags. It also comes with power tilt- and telescoping-steering wheel, and wood trim. It has switches for the OnStar System, but I have never used OnStar and have not subscribed to it. The rear view mirror dims automatically and includes a digital compass. Back seat passengers can check their make-up with individual flip-down lighted vanity mirrors. There are rear opera lights and a rear arm rest, too. The rear arm rest folds down and a door opens to access the trunk (for carrying skis, I guess). It has a factory alarm system which functions properly. The steering wheel cruise controls function properly and the message "Cruise Engaged" appears in the message area when you set the cruise control, making you feel something like Captain Picard when driving down the road. It has adjustable rear suspension so it doesn't bottom out when your in-laws are riding in the back seat and your trunk is full of their luggage. Some Cadillacs have suspension issues. I replaced the rear struts shortly after buying the car so it isn't an issue here. The car has a few interesting features not seen on many Cadillacs, including: The Wheels are 17-inch wheels originally found on the Cadillac DTS. I believe the DHS came standard with 16-inch wheels. The wheels are chrome and very striking. There is a night-vision heads-up display on the windshield that I have never seen on any other car. It works. At night, the driver activates the infrared "night vision" camera mounted behind the grill. A display, about the size of the rear view mirror, appears in the bottom of your field on view on the windshield. If the camera detects a source of heat (like an animal or pedestrian) the source of heat shows up as white against a dark background. It doesn't work well in the city. There is too much background light/heat. However, on a country road or highway, it works well and you can spot deer or pedestrians on the side of the road for extra safety. The car also includes a built-in navigation system. The navigation system works well in mid-sized or larger cities (nearly all Knoxville streets do appear and I would not consider Knoxville a large city) and I can always find my way around in Atlanta or Memphis. The system runs on CDs. GM sold CDs for different areas of the Country. I have the "Ohio Valley" CD that roughly includes Ohio, Kentucky, Middle and West Tennessee and the "Southeast" CD that includes East Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and a few other places. The attention voice gives you directions and her voice is very pleasing--unlike some of the after-market navigation systems. "You have arrived at your destination. Your route guidance is now finished". In all fairness though, GM has made vast improvements in their navigation system in the last 10 years, and hasn't upgraded the CDs. However, if the roads were there 10 years ago and are still there now, you can find them with this system. This car has so many features that when I travel out of town and rent a new car, I feel cheated because the new car doesn't have as many features as the car I left at home. Back to business: This Cadillac is a four-door sedan that is white in color. I believe General Motors calls the color "White Diamond Pearl". The interior is a light tan. I have the original owner's manual, two regular keys, one remote (all buttons work) and one valet key. I have one CD magazine for the CD changer and will include that with the car. The Cadillac also includes the built-in garage door remote with three (3) buttons for programming different features. There is a built-in computer that keeps track of things like transmission fluid life, oil life, exterior temperature, mileage (and instant mileage), fuel range, and other matters. A spare tire and a jack contained in the trunk. There is a cargo net in the trunk, too. However, there are some issues of which you should be aware. As with any used car, it is not perfect. I have done my best to list all issues here, but I am not a car dealer, nor an inspector. The car is available for inspection in Knoxville, Tennessee (37918) and I recommend that you make an inspection before you bid. I am selling the car as is, where is. If you would like to see the car or have questions, please drop me a message with your email address and I will do my best to answer you. Ebay will only allow me to post 24 photographs in this auction, but I have many more that I will send upon request. I have kept the service records over the years and you can take a look at or ask questions about those, too. Some of the less routine service records show that the wiring harness that controls the fuel gauge was replaced in June 2009 (150,069). The fuel injectors were cleaned at the same time. A power steering fluid leak was repaired (cracked hose) in July 2009 (152,411). The driver's window regulator was replaced in April 2010. The ignition system was worked over in May 2010 (175,596). Since that time, things have hummed along smoothly. There are a few paint blemishes from rock dings, etc. There are no glaringly large dings. You must be looking closely to find them. There are two small marks behind the driver's side rear wheel. I have posted a photo so you can check for yourself. These marks are not spreading or growing. Some of the fabric inside the driver's door has worn through. I think it is where my left elbow rests when I drive. I have included a photo of that. None of the dashboard warning lights are on. The trim below the rear license plate is cracked and you can see this in a photo as well. I don't know how it was cracked, but I can tell you the car has not been in an accident. I suspect it happened when I was loading a golf bag into the trunk.. The strangest quirk on this car is the driver's side exterior turn marker light. The light is about 1/3 full of water. I have no idea how the water gets in there, or how to get it out. Probably a drain hole is plugged, but I can't find it. Interestingly, even though the light is full of water, it still functions. It reminds me of goldfish pimp shoes from the 1970s. There's a photo included so you can see for yourself. As with other Northstar Engines, the car does use some oil. I add 1-2 quarts of oil between oil changes (every 5,000 miles). I don't smell oil burning or notice an oil leak in my garage. Perhaps it is the mystery of the Northstar Engine. Once, the Cadillac service manager (the car was in to have the seat heater replaced) told me he thought the car was losing coolant. I told him I hadn't noticed any and he told me to keep an eye on it. I did. In the three or so years since he told me it had a leak I have loaded less than a gallon of fluid into the engine. Maybe he had a boat payment coming up. I usually get about 20-22 MPG around town, but I use the cruise control a lot. On highway trips I get as much as 26 MPG, but then again, I'm usually on cruise control. I rarely drive above 70 MPH in this car. It's not that the Cadillac won't go faster, I just don't feel the need to go any faster. The winning bidder must make a $ 500.00 deposit by paypal within 24 hours of auction close or the car will be re-listed and appropriate feedback left. Final payment and transportation arrangements must be made within 7 days of auction close. The car is located in Knoxville, Tennessee (zip code 37918). I will make reasonable efforts to deliver the car to a transportation service for you if you choose to ship it that way. The car is completely driveable and you shouldn't have problems driving the car anywhere if you choose to drive it home. Full payment must be made and the funds must clear before I will ship the car anywhere. I am not a car dealer, nor a bank and cannot make finance arrangements. Payment of the balance must be by cashier's check, cash, or credit card before the car or the title are turned over. I have a credit card service that allows me to accept credit cards, but it takes 2-3 days for payment to post. As a result, I won't turn over the car until after the payment posts. I have a clear Tennessee title with no liens or encumbrances. Upon receipt of payment I will endorse the title to you and ask you to sign a Bill of Sale for the purchase price. If you and I get into a dispute over this car, you agree that such dispute will be decided in Knox County, Tennessee. I am starting this auction at a very low price. I believe the best way to get the best price from ebay is to use an action with a low starting price and sell with no reserve. The high bidder will take this great car home. Please email with any questions. I reserve the right to end the auction early and to cancel the bids of bidders whom I think appear shady. Good luck!
