Vehicle Detail
Yes! She's back! The person who bid on this car and won her last time turned out to be a great, honest person. I explained to him that I believe this car should have brought more in the last auction. According to him, he sold one just recently for $6500 and amazingly, he offered me the option to relist the car with better pictures and videos, in hopes that the car will bring the PROPER amount of money. (Email transcript between him and I supplied on request). The last auction was a no reserve auction, because we felt that it would bring the right price - which it would, if it had more than just a few pictures. So here it is, with all the pictures and videos one could want. This is still a no reserve auction, simply because we do need to sell her this time around. Cmon guys, shes definitely worth it - where can you find a car this clean? Original Ad: Unmodified, unmolested, original, solid vehicle with 75k true mileage. Hello eBayers, I know there is a lot of writing and info here, but please take the time to read it. I have always given an in-depth description of the cars I sell on eBay. I find that buyer appreciate this. If there is something I haven't covered, please let me know and contact me. The blue book on this car is between $7,975 and $11,900 according to NADA.com. However, I am listing it as an absolute auction, no reserve. I have done this in the past, and I find that the law of supply and demand takes over and USUALLY the right price is met. I sincerely hope it will be in this case, because I am moving and regrettably, must sell this beauty. You could walk away a buyer who just "stole" a gorgeous 262c, but nevertheless you will certainly be a proud and happy owner. This car will not disappoint when seen "in the flesh" or driven. Ok then, you are bidding on my father's pride and joy - this is something he needs to let go of due to financial obligations. This car is indeed one of the more rare Bertone Volvos, as it is a 1980 model with a non-vinyl roof - something that I believe only 80 or so of were brought to the U.S. - My father is a car fanatic, and loves oddball 60s 70s and 80s cars, just like myself. I have sold several of my cars through eBay, getting ready to move, all with positive feedback. These include several Mercedes 300 Diesels, a VW Westfalia, a v12 Jaguar convertible, a Datsun Fairlady Roadster, another Volvo 262 Bertone, and some others. You can be certain you are getting all the info that I have on the car you are bidding on, and I disclose everything to the best of my knowledge. The good, the neutral, the things that may need help, the history, it is all here, nothing is being hidden or not disclosed. If there is something that you would like to know, please call me at (512) 588-3492 or send me an email. You may get a quicker response by calling me. I would like to mention, please do not bid on this item if you are not wanting to follow through. As you may know, eBay ads cost money, $120 to be exact, and I do need to sell this car in a timely manner for my move. She is worth every penny, and has a remarkable history. The "first" buyer for the last car I sold here, a 1979 Mercedes 280se, kept making excuses as to why he could not pay the deposit, and eventually flaked out. The second buyer stepped in and bought it, was happy and left positive feedback, but guys, please, do not waste my time or your time. The car is listed to the best of my knowledge and experience in ownership, and honesty is key for me. Please rest assured the car is a wonderful example of a 280z, and I'm confident you will be happy. Please follow through on your purchase, As stated before, I must move and selling this car must be done in a timely manner. With that said, I can store the car for you in my air-conditioned garage in Lakeway for 2 weeks, perhaps a little more if you contact me first. The cut and dry: This car is fantastic. Plain and simple. A true unmolested, unmodified, healthy car. no leaks and no problems, and quite nice paint. This car was kept meticulously as a "time capsule", while all the time being kept healthily running and driving, on average, 6 to 10 miles a week, to keep her fresh, happy and spry, and keep the rubber, elastics and mounts excercised. It must be driven to be believed, but this car does NOT have even the slightest feeling of "looseness". She is solid, tight and still drives and feels very fresh. My father and I hate to see her go, but I know someone will appreciate her and continue maintaining and preserving her. This car has been kept since 1987 in a garage, and still got her maintenance done on time. Oil changes were done whether it needed it or not, every 8 months. It was driven enough for the fuel to stay fresh, and for the car to remain in it's nice, healthy state. Interior: What can I say? The pictures look good, but seriously don't do her justice. This car is clean, clean, clean. The carpet is beautiful, No dirt or dust in the crevices, no funk on the steering wheel, absoultely spotless. I can't give her anything but a 9.5 out of 10 for being 31 years old. My father has owned this car for the past 14 years, and boy has he loved it... the handstitched Italian leather interior is still in excellent shape throughout and it truly is a joy to just sit inside of and relish in the pure feel and smell of fine Italian upholstery. Even the headliner I believe is leather. I know for a fact that Bertone even made the Wood panels from matching pieces. There are no rips or tears or any problems that I can see. It's truly a remarkable interior. Engine/Drivetrain: This car starts up first time everytime, the Bosch CIS fuel injected 6 purrs smoothly, and the transmission shifts just like it should, with no slips or problems. It is a tremendously healthy running car, temperature gauge always stays where it should, the oil pressure is well within range, I had the oil pressure checked by a mechanic with his gauge, and it is great. The car drives straight and true down the highway, and feels like a much younger car. It is a true pleasure to drive, doesn't burn oil, doesn't do anything it shouldn't. I drive her 2 or 3 days a week with complete confidence. This car truly stays nice and tight down the highway, and as I said before, the car is not "loose". All the joints and endlinks are healthy and the car feels solid. This is VERY important to me. A loose car takes all the confidence out of driving to me. The car is dry and clean. A/C and Climate: The A/C was recently working, but now it seems like it just needs a recharge of freon. I cannot say with certainty if the compressor kicks on but I can surely check. Please make sure to ask me. Title: The title is a good, blue title, IN MY FATHER'S NAME, and ready to be transfered to you. I will require a $500 cash deposit, sent to paypal, within 12 hours of auction close, and the remainder within 3 days, in cash, or a cashier's check that I can clear at a local bank on the day of pickup. If you need other arrangements, please contact me first. Please honor your bid, I have put a lot of time into this ad, and for someone to just back out is very unfair. Please let me know your intentions if you have zero feedback, or I may cancel your bids. I'm sorry, I've just had bad experiences in the past with bidders with zero or negative feedback. One of you guys are bound to ask something like: "Can I drive this car straight to California or New York??" - Well, I don't see why not, My father kept her meticulously mantained so she will be healthy, but then again, I don't even drive my DAILY DRIVER out of town, let alone out of state. I'm the kind of guy who rents a car for peace of mind. So, in conclusion, I feel like the car would make it, but she IS 31 years old, and a collectible, so I would not neccessarily do it. I would have a transposrt company pick it up if you live a considerable distance. Believe me, this car is worth it. Don't risk the rocks and pebbles and road hazards on a 1500 mile trip. To date, every car I have sold on eBay, including a 1975 Peugeot 504 DIESEL that was driven to CANADA from Texas (I know, right?), has made it to its destination just fine if the new owner decided to drive it, but of course, I cannot guarantee anything to you. I hope it makes sense and you understand. Good luck bidding, I know you will love this car just as much as my father and I. Please call with any questions, you may get a faster response than thru email. You can contact me at (512) 588-3492. Pictures: Please click to enlarge.
