Vehicle Detail

I had been trying to buy this car for about 5 years. You could only see it on garbage day when the garage was cracked open a hair. One day when I drove by I saw the mustang up the street and around the corner with a for sale sign on it. My heart skipped a beat but when I looked at the sign, it was way out of my league. Fast forward 6 months and the price had dropped and I was in business. A pleasant Doctor met me and we took a long test drive. He had owned the car for 25 years but now life had intervened. We struck a deal and I had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to bring this classic home. Whoever gets this car is guaranteed to have a fun summer. It's an attention getter and I've gotten used to tipping my cap and nodding my head to the appreciative glances and thumbs up. I know many people enjoy mustangs for the power of a V8 engine, but I am here to state that the 6 cylinder is quite pleasant and runs like a top. When I first turned the key and the little 6 hummed to life I was very pleased. It's not the handful I am accustomed to. It's very sedate and manageable. I am out here on a 70 mile drive just today. The top is down as usual and the gas gauge just won't budge. When I first started cleaning this car I figured I had a beautiful original. As time went by on a lazy Sunday, and more elbow grease was exerted on the drop top I realized to my astonishment that this car had been fully restored to perfection at one point. The paint was so smooth and glossy my mind began to race. I didn't fully realize what I had until 3 hours into the clean up. The man had parked the mustang under a giant pine tree which had coated it in pollen and piney residue. The car began to clean up more and more and my friends stopped by with their jaws on the ground. No one could believe how straight the chrome and body is. The interior was as nice as any car I have ever owned and there has been many. It became apparent that the restoration had been taken to a very high level. The craftsmanship that had gone into the restoration was revealed after just a few hours of scrubbing and polishing. This car appears to have been restored with an unlimited budget! The mustang has got some funky little mags on it. All my friends want to see the original hubcaps. I like these mags. They are era correct for the restoration. There is an Alpine deck mounted in the glovebox. There are some nice speakers very professionally installed in the front and back. There is also an amp and sub-woofer. The Doc wanted to hear his tunes but I wanted to hear the engine. He told me it had been rebuilt and the head had been replaced very recently. The carburator is also new and the original one is in a box in the trunk. There is a box of all the original stuff that comes with the car. Just little things that had been replaced during the restoration. The top is in nice shape, but unfortunately a pine cone torpedoed thru and put a not so nice hole in it. I patched this very thoroughly but the purists will demand a replacement. It is a manual top which makes me smile. This car is low upkeep all the way. No power doo-dads and gizmos to repair daily here. The bad stuff now. A pine cone put a ding dead center on the trunk. Somebody did that thing of slamming down the hood with the air cleaner bolt up too high. The driver's quarter got smacked way down low by a flat tire (pictured). There are a dozen very small rock chips and the driver's door has a little funky spot like it got opened into something. The tires should be replaced asap. The biggest issue is that the synchros in the transmission will need to be redone. The car pops out of first gear after reaching 20 miles per hour. Keep in mind I am on a 70 mile cruise today that may stretch into 100. The car drives great. The braking system is outstanding for a car this age. It starts on one click of the key. It has an alarm system that works. I am very critical and contact any member on eBay that has purchased from us. They are stoked!! What I have for you here is a car anyone would love to have in their garage. The body panels line up very well and the engine is a joy. This car will hold its value no matter what a dollar is worth. It's a pleasure to drive and be seen in. It is elegant and graceful. It catches kudos and compliments by the hatfull. This is the consumate classic. No one will deny that you picked a winner here.
