Up for auction is this very solid 1940 Buick Special 4 door sedan. PRICED TO SELL QUICKLY! It has the original straight 8 engine. It has a 3 speed transmission on the column. The engine turns and seems to have good compression. The car ran 2 years ago. I think it would start with some tinkering, fresh gas & a pull down the road, but I have not tried it. It needs a master cylinder as the brakes do not push down at all. The body of the car is very solid and hard to find a dent or a ding. The paint and interior look to be original. The interior isn't in too bad of shape. (see pictures) The running boards are very solid along with the rocker panels. The running boards need to be recovered. All glass is OK. The windows roll up & down. The dash is pretty decent. Floor pans look to be solid. Doors close easily & stay shut. It will need a new ignition switch. Lights & horn work. This could be for a total restoration or drive as is. It does have some awsome potential. The tires hold air but need to be replaced. The only bad area on the car is in the trunk along inner edge. This could be easily fixed as it is simple & in an accessable area. It does have a nice trunk lid that closes good. The chrome is in decent shape. It is missing the lettering on the nose of the hood, however, everything else appears to be in tact. The mileage is not known to be original. This car is for sale locally & reserve the right to end the auction early.
