Vehicle Detail
A very nice Porsche 356 - Not perfect but nice. Recent paint - chrome very good. This car is a "notchback". Very few of these exist. The Karmann notchback was only manufactured in 1961 & 1962. This is one of only 75 with a factory installed sunroof (works great). Engine rebuilt at 88,000 miles. Has original Blaupunkt radio - works well. Gas gauge does not work. This is a lot of fun to drive. Zips right along with its 60 HP engine. 6 Volt system. Inspections welcome. Call or email questions. Telephone574-274-9729 after 5 PM EDT please. On Apr-06-11 at 16:24:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Additionalinformation being supplied in answer to numerous questions I've had: The engine on the car is original. I verified it by comparing the Certificate of Authenticity I received from Porsche to the actual engine in the care. It matches! Also, the Certificate verifies that the car shipped with the factory installed sunroof which is electric. The car was completely stripped of the original factory white color and the red repaint in November 2004. I then had it painted Signal Red - an original paint of Porsche in 1962. I chose to paint it red because I like that better than the white originally on the car. The factory sheet shows hubcaps with the Porsche crest altho the hubcaps on the car are plain chrome with no crest. On Apr-08-11 at 02:09:02 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had several questions about the care the car has had since the restoration in 2004 and its exposure to the weather. I bought it in 1996 and have never driven it except for very nice days and then only in the summer. The only time it has been wet since 1996 (my purchase) is when I have washed it. It has been stored in temp and humidity controlled garage - air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. Notice in pictures I've added the Certificate of Authenticity. In my previous description I mentioned its original white color - it was actually called "Ivory". I've had many calls to sell the car off Ebay. I am not interested in doing that. This car is very unique and deserves the chance to go the anyone who wants it. I will let it go to the end of the auction to the highest bidder. I've had at least one bid from an overseas bidder who wanted to "bring it home to Germany". My preference is that it stay here in U.S., its adopted "home". On Apr-12-11 at 18:23:32 PDT, seller added the following information: As I talk with numerous parties, I have identified a few items I want to call to the attention of any bidders: One of the pics in the posting shows a "white" spot below and to the left of the radio. That is actually a small chip of the red paint on the underside of the dash. It doesn't show while sitting in the seat but does from the angle of the pic. One potential bidder asked me to check for heater boxes on the underside of the car. It appears they are missing. In front of the gearshift on the floor is a small square metal "post". Apparently that regulates the heater. The knob for that is missing. As I am not an expert, I encourage any serious bidder to order an inspection or come to see the car in person before bidding. I want all bidders to be comfortable with what the car is like and have no misunderstanding later. I will do my best to describe the car or answer any questions you have.
