Vehicle Detail
Parts car or restore. Rare European engine with hotter cams and Bosch Electronic Fuel Injection. Have receipts for total engine rebuild by Corfee Automotive in Sacramento (over $12,000) and many new chassis parts, as the car was being prepared for total restoration until a collision with a deer put a stop to that. Job change, relocation, the car ended up surplus to previous owner's needs. Has trick lightweight alloy wheels. Has been parked since 2006, ran like a Swiss Watch. Gas is total goo by know, but have not tried to start it so the injection system should be clean for new gas. Brakes have been rebuilt BUT they were very grabby on the drive over from Seattle. Glass is good, many trim parts are good. Body is rusty in many places with peeling lacquer paint. Sunroof works, does not leak. Interior has some useful pieces, could be restored, but in my opinion should be replaced. Front seats are junk, cannot even imagine how the driver's seat got so destroyed - we drove it over with a blanket over it and the spare behind it to keep it upright. Car looks like hell, but is basically straight except for right front fender, tho it would be driveable. I'll post pics of what it looked like "Before", very pretty machine. Mainly this is a rare and fast overhauled engine and chassis for sale, which just happens to be in a rolling cart. Plus the alloy wheels, very lightweight rally-type. With a cleaned gas tank and brake de-rusting, the car could probably be driven anywhere, tho the right front headlight (these are Euro headlights) is broken. I would strongly suggest having this car delivered on a flatbed. I can arrange transportation anywhere in the U.S. for a maximum of around $1400, but local WA, ID, OR, CA buyer would make more sense. Part this car out to M-B W114 restorers and come out way ahead? Or swap this engine into a 250/280 Coupe of the same era (1970-1972?) and save a bundle over a rebuild. I was going to make a stripped Rat/Rally car out of it, w/roll-cage, rally seats, aluminum instrument panel, but my wife and old age caught up with me before I got it done. Now she say it has to go, and I agree that the M-B community will better benefit from this previous rebuild work.
