Elsewhere at buyer’s expense. 912E Up for auction is a very rare opportunity to acquire a true classic History This car was purchased new in December 1975 at a Porsche in Chicago, Ill. It was used as a daily driver and then brought to Los Angeles, Calif., in late 1978. After realizing that Air Conditioning is needed on a daily driver in Southern California, The owner traded the car in to Vasek-Pokak Porsche-Audi on Hermosa Beach, Ca. It had about 27,000 miles at that time. It was purchased by the current owner Steve, in early 1979. It was to be used as a weekend driver. The car was originally silver but he wanted a popular special order color at that time called Beige-Grey Metallic, later renamed Sandstone Metallic. He had the Porsche dealer completely take the car apart and paint it Beige-Grey Metallic. It was very expensive to have an authorized Porsche dealer paint the car but he wanted the perfect job. He used the car on rare occasions for about 20 years and then in the late 1990,s he wanted to preserve the car so he put it in dry storage. It’s been in storage for the past 12 years. Steve has owned the car for the past 33 years. The paint today is still absolutely beautiful with the exception of a few small spots. The usual dime size bubble between the front fender and the hood that every 1976 Porsche 911 or 912 got because of the new galvanized body that year. A 2” crack in the paint just under the front leadlight. (See photos) and two or three very small rock chips on the front hood. Other than that, the paint is glossy and beautiful all around the car. Equipment No leaking Sunroof to come off its tracks and scratch the paint, or any cables in the roof to snap and jam a useless Sunroof. No Air Conditioning to over heat the air cooled engine. Porsche 912’s were never meant to run with A/C. Condition This car is 35 years old. If you did not know about 912E’s and you saw this car, you would think it’s a late model Porsche. For a 35 years old car, it not only looks beautiful in and out, it drives beautifully. Its solid, quick, (maybe not so quick) responsive and really a fun car to drive. Dash is perfect, original, not capped. Mileage 68,033 miles on the Odometer. We believe the miles are about correct, but, the original owner had problems with the Odometer during the first year. It stopped working for a while and the dealer repaired/Replaced it. Consequently, Steve will not verify that the miles are exact. However, the mechanics and the restoration people believe it’s about correct due to the condition of the car. What we did to the car from Storage. Engine; From storage, no attempt was made to start the car. The car was brought to the legendary, Stuttgart Automotive Service located in the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles. Work done; Fuel tank was drained and cleaned. Fuel injection was cleaned adjusted. Fuel injectors were removed and cleaned. All injector hoses and lines were replaced. All hoses, fuel lines, brake lines, oil lines, anything that was rubber was changed. All V belts were changed. All the brake rotors were removed and bead blasted. New Master brake cylinder. New brake fluid. New battery New heat and sound pad in engine compartment. Complete service. Lube, oil, filters, adjustments etc. Interior; Seats reupholstered. Steering column bushing replaced. Exterior; 4 New tires. (Not balanced) Front end alignment. New hood and deck lid shocks. New wiper blades. What needs to be done? *There is a small windshield wiper scratch on the passenger side of the windshield. It’s about 5 or 6 inches long. It does not obstruct the vision. *Heat Exchangers and a Muffler. I was not able to find a pair of Heat Exchangers for a 912E. I just missed an almost new pair on ebay last week (140525546946) that sold for $755.00 (Heat exchangers are two canister things around the exhaust pipes at the rear, next to the Muffler. They hold heat and direct it to the interior of the car or to the outside of the car.) From sitting so long, the thin sheet metal Heat Exchangers have become rusty to the point that they will not heat the cars interior the way it should. The best muffler for this car is the Bursch tuned and quieter, yet throaty muffler on ebay (370491869120) *Tire balancing. New tires but they were not balanced. At a high speed, 60 + MPH the steering wheel shakes and vibrates a little. Fuch wheels. The Fuchs are not in as good condition as the pictures show. When we finished, When Stuttgart Automotive Service was finished, they turned the key and the engine immediately came to life and purred like a kitten. (That needed a muzzle, as-in Muffler) The transmission and clutch work perfectly. Any viewing or mechanical inspection by you, your representative or mechanic is welcome at any time at my location only. A test drive is possible but very limited due to expired license registration and insurance. * Title and Registration. I have the California issued Ownership Title “Pink Slip” and last Registration for the car in 1999. This is a California Blue plated car. When Steve put the car in storage, he stopped paying DMV fees in 1999 without filing a Non-Op through DMV. Consequently, the registration fees have accumulated over the years and the California penalties are now between $500 and $600 to register in California. I do not know about any other State. Buyer will receive a clean, clear Title and a Credit Union lien holder release from about 25 years ago. Last registration card in 1999 and a Bill of Sale(s) if you need a blank one. · The registration is the sole responsibility of the buyer. *** Only seasoned eBay bidders with a perfect score can Bid on this vehicle without a prior credit card, check, or cash deposit.
